  1. meant "Leaving New York", of course. And I'll check those albums out, I like ballads but something heavier is good now and then. Thanks again.
  2. I've just recently listened to "Leaving To New York" and I think its awesome: absolutely beautiful and certainly one of the best songs of late. Its totally turned me on to R.E.M. Thanks so much for the recommendation, Scott.
  3. That would be "For What Its Worth" by Buffalo Springfield, a truly excellent song.
  4. Allmusic.com has song reviews and interpretations though it too is limited (depending on the artist) and a good deal of other information on albums, artists, chart positions and so forth. Btw, Welcome to the boards.
  5. I'm guessing "Another Brick in the Wall Part 2" by Pink Floyd If that's correct, let's try Windy's:
  6. Maybe "Whole Lotta Love" by Led Zeppelin??
  7. I find myself largely ignoring the recent bands and newer songs in favor of the older (and IMO better) music. It seems the English have an uncanny ability for great music that is popular worldwide. That however began in the 1960's (but continues still). A lot my favorite bands and artists are/were from England: the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd etc. etc. and unless the current music scene does a 180, I will be listening to them more than today's stuff. Overall I'd say the 60's and 70's had the best music and artists when the British Invasion of music was at its peak but that is my opinion. I'm not that old and I still am not really into most of today's mainstream music not that it isn't good, but I personally don't care much for it. I think everyone has their own taste and if someone doesn't like today's type of music its no big deal. By the way, welcome to the boards.
  8. Figure its a song by the Beatles so I am trying to think of a song where John and Paul wrote separate parts... maybe "Baby Your A Rich Man"??
  9. Yeah, my dad's work moved and it became too far to commute but I was pretty upset about leaving there.
  10. Greetings all! My name is Annabelle. I recently turned 16 and just started 11th grade. Born in Alliston, a small town in southern Ontario, Canada, but just moved to Stoney Creek, Ontario a town about 45 minutes south of Toronto near Hamilton. Don?t have any means to upload a pic but I have long, chestnut brown hair and brown eyes and am about 5?8 and 115 lbs. I live at home with my father and mother and a brother a year older than myself. My mother, who had been suffering stomach problems, pain and such, experienced what I can only call a miracle: after many useless tests and treatments both pharmaceutical and alternative, she was divinely healed one night during prayer of, what we think, was a stomach tumor. Ever since I have been seeking to know more about God, His Word, the Bible and myself, who I am and what I should be while contemplating life in general. I greatly enjoy listening to (and learning about) music, chiefly classic rock but I love discovering different bands and styles. I am learning to play the piano and hopefully one day the guitar while trying to write a few songs myself. Other pastimes include watching movies and reading, especially older novels like Don Quixote, Anna Karenina and Vanity Fair and educational stuff like National Geographic. I enjoy hanging out with my friends and my dog and spending time with my family: I go shopping with my mom sometimes and play golf and bike ride with my dad. A lot of times though I just like to be by myself, writing, drawing or hiking.
  11. Same here. The people of the United States and the victims, and their families, of that senseless tragedy have my deepest sympathies, support and prayers. Btw, that's a beautiful prayer PinkFloyd, very touching.
  12. Ahh, then Denmark is right and the track has been wrongly credited. Glad I could be of any assistance.
  13. Oops looks like Denmark Street beat me to it. :: I believe "Elizabethan Reggae" was a reggae version of "Elizabethan Serenade" (1951) a classical work by Ronald Binge though it was re-arranged and performed by Boris Gardiner around 1970. Is the tune the same as "Everything I Own" or the lyrics?? The two might not be the same song.
  14. It could be "Get Up Get Down Get Funky Get Loose" by Teddy Pendergrass found on his 1978 album Life Is a Song Worth Singing. Though I had trouble finding definite lyrics these could be them: Get Up Get Down Get Funky Get Loose Get Up Get Down Get Funky Get Loose Get Up Get Down Get Funky Get Loose say whatcha come out here for whatcha come out here for do ya wanna party, do ya wanna dance come on people, come on and get down down " " " " I come down here to party And party is what I'm gonna do I done worked hard both night and day And now it's time for me to shake it loose Took me an hour just to get here Do ya think I'm gonna stand up on the wall Gonna have myself a ball, do ya hear me Have myself a ball, come on yall Come on and Get Up Get Down Get Funky Get Loose Come on and Get Up Get Down Get Funky Get Loose say whatcha come out here for whatcha come out here for do ya wanna party, do ya wanna dance come on people, come on and get down down " " " " floor is crowded full of people there's room enough for you and me I can geta chance to hold you in my arms And whisper something sweet in your ear When you're havin fun the time just slips away So let's make use of the moments that we share Lets act like we don't care do you hear me, Free like a bird in the air, come on people Get Up Get Down Get Funky Get Loose Come on and Get Up Get Down Get Funky Get Loose say whatcha come out here for whatcha come out here for do ya wanna party, do ya wanna dance come on people, come on and get down down " " " " Get Up Get Down Get Funky Get Loose Come on and Get Up Get Down Get Funky Get Loose (repeat)(adlib) Hope this helps .
  15. I feel the same way. This is indeed an awesome forum and I'm glad I stumbled across it. Not only has it provided a way for me to express myself honestly, but also it has served to teach me a lot of things about music, life etc. The superb layout and administration of the site itself also makes it fun and easy to contribute. It has given me an appreciation for the diversity of people and their opinions and taught me to respect them and be open to new ideas while still staying true to who I am. I am equally impressed at the maturity, intelligence, tolerance and all around good, friendly nature of the people who post here. (Quite unlike many of the other chat rooms/forums I have seen.) Overall I'm just happy to find those who agree with my tastes and opinions while learning from those who don't. Just had to express my admiration for this site and its members. May God bless and keep each and every one of you!
