  1. Yes, Darryl, those books are invaluable to me in my line of work. And your grandchildren are certainly beautiful! Buzzkill - does anyone know the answer to the question posted above?
  2. Shot in the dark: Yardbirds - Little Games, Little Soldier Boy Supremes - Little Bright Star, Little Girl Blue, Little Miss Loser Bad Company - Little Martha, Little Angel, Little Miss Fortunes

Thanks for the clue, Peaches. Bastard brilliant writers. Foxy, I second her praise for the show, and will also try to avoid divulging anything integral to the show.

OK, fine, tell me what the fact is... I'm so easy.

    Lost

I am avoiding those things like the Plague. I don't want to read anything that makes sense, or anything those involved with the show have said. I want the show to end so I know the whole story, but I also want it to go on forever. My biggest fear is being let down by the ending, so I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised. I need to get the first season DVD, but I'm scared to learn any secrets...

    Lost

Agreed. In the last few weeks, since I wasn't watching the reruns, I started questioning whether the show was actually as good as I thought during the initial run. My fears were gone after the opening scene. Wowie-wow-wow. My wife has been terrified of Ethan since he first got all creepy, and now I think we're both scared sh*tless of Walt.

    Lost

Is your jaw dropping because of my asinine post, or because "Lost" is the best show ever made? Besides "Arrested Development".
  8. Thanks Brad! That one was starting to drive me crazy, so I'm glad it's over. I'm going to retaliate with a question that might be too vague, but I'll let everyone sleep on it... One of the co-writers of a popular 1977 movie theme was a regular guest on a popular, mostly non-animated 1980's children's show. Hint: the movie is part of a series. Useless hint: if you disregard Beatles' songs, this is the greatest song ever written. I guess this is an unintentional four-parter: 1. Writer 2. Movie 3. Song 4. Guest on what show?
  9. Yes, the cowbell and the "Get off the shed!" thing are true moments of genius. I think he's the best cast member that show's ever had. I think he's surpassed Eddie Murphy. Let me have it...
  10. The best commercials they ever did: 1. Happy Fun Ball 2. Oops! I Crapped My Pants 3. The Change Bank 4. The one with the viking toy that sprayed red goo all over the place. 5. The one with the baby jesus decoration that made a horrible, incessant whining sound really loudly.

They used "Vibrate" by Rufus Wainwright on an episode last season; maybe the one with Christian and the blind chick? Great use of the song. That's another reason I love "Lost" so much. They've used: Damien Rice ("Delicate") - Hurley's CD player dies Willie Nelson ("Are You Sure") - survivors split into groups (beach/caves) Blind Boys Of Alabama ("I Shall Not Walk Alone") - when Sayid left after torturing Sawyer. That was my favorite music choice so far. I want that to be my job.
  12. OK, i was just kidding with the other one. "Banana Boat (Day-O)". Instead of three debuts on the same day, I have 2 sets of 2 debuting on the same days. God, I hope this counts, because I can do no more. And I've already cursed Joel Whitburn's name more than once. Harry Belafonte (1/12/57) - #5 Steve Lawrence (1/12/57) - #18 Fontane Sisters (12/29/56) - #13 Sarah Vaughan (12/29/56) - #19 Tarriers (12/22/56) - #4 Stan Freberg (4/13/57) - #25
  13. OK, enough screwing around. I had to get serious this time. "Autumn Leaves" is the song. The artists are Roger Williams, Steve Allen/George Cates, Mitch Miller, Jackie Gleason, Victor Young and The Ray Charles Singers. The versions by Steve Allen/George Cates, Mitch Miller and Jackie Gleason all debuted on the charts on November 12, 1955. Good second guess, eh?
  14. It would have to be either "Unchained Melody" or "Mack The Knife". I'm going with "Mack The Knife".

My favorite "Earl" moment was when they ran out of the guy's house when they found out he was gay. The shot went to a wide angle showing them tearing out of the house, and he said "I guess the running was unnecessary". Brilliant. The whole "Mama" thing on "Nip/Tuck" was incredibly depressing, but the music was wonderful. "Dance Me To The End Of Love" by Madeleine Peyroux, a cover of the Leonard Cohen song, was used brilliantly when they were getting her out of the house. Madeleine is from your parts, Peaches. Geographically speaking.

Right there with you, of course, even about the cartwheel. "Arrested Development" was hysterical, as always, "My Name Is Earl" has potential, "The Office" was great and "Nip/Tuck" was fantastic. So "Lost" should be the big finish for the week.
  17. A line from an Aimee Mann song inspired the writing of this movie, which was written backwards based on said lyric. Three-parter, I guess. What is the: 1. Song 2. Movie 3. Lyric, for ultra-mega bonus points
  18. Billy Idol - "Mony Mony" (originally by Tommy James & The Shondells).
  19. You are correct! I was wondering if this one would get answered; sorry for the difficulty. All mentioned groups/artists have songs based on Rachmaninoff compositions. EC - All By Myself (Piano Concerto #2) Sting - Russians (Lieutenant Kije Suite) PR & The Raiders - Like Long Hair (Prelude In C# Minor) Good job, Laurie.
  20. Addictive, isn't it? Though he kind of frightens me, I think Jamie is the coolest. To be confident enough to wear that hat with that mustache? That dude is doing something right.
  21. Again, weigh the relevancy of this against things that actually matter. I'm smart about two things - music and baseball - but I don't know crap about anything else. I'm learning, though, thanks to "Mythbusters".
  22. Agree with you on all of that, Peaches. I also think Will Arnett and David Cross should've been nominated. Actually, the whole cast of "AD" should've been. Oh well, tonight's the big night, eh? How brilliant is this show that they're replacing Henry Winkler's character with Scott Baio?
  23. I'm not sure if he did or not, though I do hope he's not dead! In addition to different timeframe, this person is also from a non-pop style.
  24. OK, the "fourth" party is from a slightly different era, is now deceased and was famous as a pianist along with another reason. Oh, and not from the U.S.
