  1. You'll like Original Musiquarium if you're looking for Stevie funk. Here're some other great Stevie albums: Songs In The Key Of Life (highly recommended) Innervisions (highly recommended) Fullfillingness' First Finale Signed, Sealed, Delivered Music Of My Mind In Square Circle Journey Through The Secret Life Of Plants There is a massive library of Stevie Wonder music. He was/is quite prolific. Enjoy your recent discovery.
  2. Ahhh, you mean they don't write 'em like they used to? They do actually. It's just that the crap that the masses elevate to popularity obscures much of the real genius today. You may have to look a little longer and harder to find it, but there's lots of quality out there. As for the "toys'...look at the one we're using right here with which to communicate. Amazing, isn't it?
  3. I was referring to Ernie K. Doe's version. Though, I must say here that I don't really dislike MILs. Just couldn't resist the sterotypical joke.
  4. Hmmm, how 'bout "Mother In Law"?
  5. Halfway To Heaven...Celine Dion..(not a fan but I like this song). Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel...by (can't recall). Hey You Get Off My Cloud...LOL Stones High Sierra...Boz Scaggs
  6. Up The Ladder To The Roof...The Supremes (post Diana Ross)
  7. I know I'm going to regret this. I hated There's Something About Mary. There! I've said it!! Everyone I know loved that movie. I found it to be (please excuse me) sophomoric drivel. The kind of humor my friends and I enjoyed when we were 14. Ok, I guess I should tell you that I feel the same about Howard Stern. OMG...what am I thinking?? Go ahead...take your best shots. Be gentle.
  8. Whao, Mike! Great thread!! I love all three of 'em. The very first Joni Mitchell song I ever heard was Chelsea Morning and I fell in love with her voice and style immediately. And, Carole King's music goes back to before I ever even heard of her, as she was writing but not performing in the 50's-60's. I especially love her "Beautiful". And Carly Simon has become better and better as a writer AND as a singer over the years. One thing these ladies all have in common is that they are accomplished poets. I know, I know...they call 'em "Singer/Songwriters" these days. I could go on and on gushing and naming songs that I love. Instead I'll just thank you for starting the thread and sit back and enjoy the replies.
  9. Uhh, Kenne...I just happen to have a wad of Britney's gum if you're still interested. I can let you have it for a song. Hold on, let me chew it a little more. Now, where should I send this? Anyone else out there interested? Just kidding...really, I am.
  10. Oh, right Fiji...how could I ever forget Stan Freeberg? Especially love his Christmas songs and characters.
  11. Anything by Bonzo Dog Band. The Monty Python parodies. Firesign Theater parodies, too.
  12. Do You Know The Way To San Jose? Do You Wanna Dance? Do You Love Me (Now That I Can Dance) Can You Do It? What In The World's Come Over You? LOL....Who Stole The Kishka? (Frankie Yankovic?)
  13. ABC...(When Smokey Sings) UB40 (do numbers count?) U2? MFSB (Mutha, Fatha, Sistah, Brutha)
  14. The children singing "It's raining, it's pouring..." along with the sax fade-out at the end of Super Tramp's "It's Raining Again".
  15. Utopia (Todd Rundgren). Ha, you thought I'd go for UB40 or that group from Ireland, what's their name...oh yeah, U2. LOL

  18. Dream songs can be so romantic...here's one by Don MeLean called "No Reason For Your Dream": There's no need to find a reason for your dreams For there is always more to dreaming than there seems to be And I'l be thankful if throughout my life you dream of me It's all that I could ask for while I live A dream is such a lovely gift to give Your fragile beauty caught me in its web And I am held by every silver strand of love you spin Here in a swirl of sleeping circles all my dreams begin Dreams that somehow always end with you You're the one who makes my dreams come true Sleep is lovely when you sleep next to me And while you're dreaming let your thoughts all run free But if I can understand what makes you free Then I would capture you and hold you for eternity But I'm afraid that would destroy the love you feel for me And loving you is how it has to be Reasons don't mean anything to me Loving you is how it has to be Reasons don't mean anything to me That song is the last cut from his 1970 TAPESTRY album. Not to be confused with Carole King's album of the same name...which was out at the same time. Lots of gteat songs on both albums. "A dream is such a lovely gift to give"... Remember the first time (anytime, actually) someone of the opposite sex told you she had a dream about you. What a feeling!
  19. Yes...and in the 60's if someone wore a boss outfit we'd say, "Man, cool threads!"
