I'll say this - if Skyfall doesn't win Best Original Song, I'm going to be really, really, REALLY pissed off.

Should have been more of a tribute to Adam Yauch than a 1-minute blip in someone else's song. Not just for his musical contributions/talent, but for all the philanthropy and charitable work he's done, especially for Tibet. I didn't watch because I can't stand these award shows, but a lot of people on Twitter were talking about it at the time, and then later this morning. I thought it was sad that last year they threw together some huge tribute for Whitney Houston in a matter of days, a woman who spent the last 20 years of her life slowly killing herself with drugs......but then this year when they had nearly a year, couldn't come up with something better for a man that died of cancer.

1. Maybe I Know - Lesley Gore (1964) 2. It Hurts To Be In Love - Gene Pitney (1964) 3. I Go To Pieces - Peter and Gordon (1964) 4. Fool To Cry - The Rolling Stones (1976) 5. Ball and Biscuit - The White Stripes (2003) 6. Young Turks - Rod Stewart (1981) 7. (I Am) Superman - The Cliques (1969) 8. Strawberry Letter 23 - Shuggie Otis (1972) 9. Thirteen - Big Star (1972) 10. Wet Cement - The Morning Benders (2010) Had a very hard time voting this week. I'm not a Beatles fan really, and too many of their songs were nominated, which didn't leave much for me to pick through to fill out my list of 10. That said, I did discover a few songs I hadn't heard before, so that's a nice takeaway. -
The Songfactor's Choice Top Ten Facts

I'm Gonna Crawl Led Zeppelin It's the final track on the band's final studio album (of new original material), In Through The Out Door. It was written by John Paul Jones, Jimmy Page, and Robert Plant, but mostly composed by Jones. The verses are interestingly, in 12/8 time. It's heavily influenced by 1960s soul and blues, and while the song is about a woman, Plant's vocal delivery and the line "every little bit of my love" were actually inspired by the death of his son two years earlier. It was never performed live by the band, but John Bonham said it was one of Plant's best vocal deliveries. Information taken from Wikipedia -

When did the "show" become more important than the music?
pinkstones replied to Steel2Velvet's topic in Music Discussion
It depends on the size of the venue, really. A smaller venue can't support a lot of that, so artists, no matter how big, scale down the show to fit. When they're playing the Rose Bowl, you've got to find some way for all 100,000 people to feel like they're a part of the experience. -

Oh hell no, I hate guns. The damn things scare the hell out of me. I am however, handy with a straw and a small pebble. I used to pelt my sister with them all the time when we were younger.

National Review Online? The only website on the Internet more batsh*t insane than them is Stormfront. What next, World Net Daily? Maybe Glenn Beck's site? I can't believe you expect anyone to take something from those sites seriously.

Thank you. I will hoard it and threaten to shoot anyone who tries to come near it.

I'd love some of that 72 degree weather, so if you want to share, send some to the Piedmont Triad of North Carolina. We'd be ever so grateful.

It's 39F at the moment. I spent about an hour and a half shoveling our driveway; we got about 2-3 inches of snow last night. They said we were supposed to get more, so I'm glad that came to naught. I'd probably still be shoveling.

I thought it was neat having a former president introduce a film about a former president. Not to mention, people love him, so the reception was electric.
