I'll admit that I had never heard of her, and that I googled her after seeing this story. I've gotta say that I really didn't find her all that good looking.

I've got to say I disagree. It is the real version, I'm playing with a complete orchestra. I'll admit that Tchaikovsky wrote some pretty kickass melodies, and his orchestration was indeed masterful. I just find the Nutcracker really cheesy and lacking emotion. It's happy, sure, but I'd rather listen to modern pop than pop that's 150 years old. Also, playing waltzes really sucks when you're a violist. Offbeats! EDIT: Sorry, this was in response to Scott. Shawna hadn't posted when I started writing. Shawna, I couldn't agree more. Having the right teacher for math makes all the difference. Usually, this means having someone who's seen the practical applications of math (as an engineer, for example) and actually finds math interesting themselves. I'm finding myself really enjoying math this year, because I have an engaging and inspiring teacher.

I learned some interesting stuff about trigonometry, and that I really dislike the Nutcracker suite. This is why I don't want to play in an orchestra when I grow up. I can't imagine how painful it would be to have to play the Nutcracker repeatedly for a series of concerts. It's too bad more orchestral musicians don't share my taste, and even more a pity that audiences tend to have even worse taste.

On my way home today I stopped to peacefully write something on some fresh cement, when someone yelled "WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?" I guess I couldn't really expect someone to see me and not yell at me, but who was I harming by doing that?

Farin, thanks to your post, I spent an hour yesterday reading those comics. They're really funny.

wow. but to say that that Gas company caused the fires is like saying that Gavrilo Princip caused World War I. They just happened to be the ones to start the fire, and it could have been just about anyone. There were some big fires in the Okanagan Valley here in BC a few years ago. Apparently they were caused by someone throwing a cigarette out of their car.

The main reason many people want low numbered pressings is that the quality can deteriorate in later pressing, particularly in albums that have sold a lot of copies. This is all but unnoticeable, and completely unnoticeable on most stereo systems, but I guess some people really care. In any case the quality would be perfect long after the fifth discs pressed, so why someone would care to pay that much just to have THE lowest number available is just beyond me.

I really think the US should fix up it's own government/political system before trying to fix others. I'm not a communist, but I think it's a lot better than the capitalist system we have now.

yeah, it's kind of a weird name when I think about it. It's also really frustrating that whenever anyone says "wait", I think I hear my name.

a friend and I got baked last night and watched it. I remember laughing my ass off, and wondering why the hell it was so violent, then getting really paranoid. I was on a school trip, so I was worried the teachers were gonna come in and smell the weed so I was really freaking out, in a kind of comical way. Anyways, I missed most of what little plot there was, and really only got to enjoy the slapstick comedy, so I'm going to have to watch it again not (or just less) stoned.

ok well it looks like this issue has been pretty well debated, but I just have to say one thing. How arrogant do you have to be to think that you have the right to decide that two people who love each other can't get married?

I had never heard of him before I saw this thread. This would be great for a party. This guy would make one hell of a producer. EDIT: just got to the part with "A Whiter Shade Of Pale". This dude really does have an ingenious ear.
