  1. Olivia Newton-John is the only one that uses her real name.
  2. Molly Ringwald Let's keep it going (cuz I'm too lazy to think up something else): Name, in your eyes, someone with physical beauty & great at what they do during the 90's.
  3. Cult Of Personality - Living Color now: Moment Of Weakness - Bif Naked
  4. Thanks RJ & Jenny!! I've started my little FB group & in its first few days I've gotten kudos for the nice idea. I printed out 20 copies of 2 poems & spread them around different waiting rooms in the hospital a few blocks from my house with receptionists permission. After reading my little piece of paper they all said it was a great idea. Some even made a copy of the opposite side & taped them on the wall side-by-side. Thanks for getting my head straight & cool ideas
  5. What is the new anthem for Hockey Night in Canada? Blame Darwin
  6. Well put. Much love Gordie!
  7. Hey... that first one sounds great! I hate speaking in front of crowds (be it large or small) as I have Social Anxiety Disorder. I'm not computerly-gifted enough to make a blog. I'm not allowed to drive, but Winnipeg's transit system supercedes any other in North America! I could head to every hospital, shopping mall, both colleges and our university... our city has only 650 000 residents so that should cover plenty. For the suburbs, I could plant some in our most popular coffee shop in each area! Thanks for that idea RJ!! As for the blog I could use FB instead... create a group & invite people who could suggest others interested in different art forms to join. Help others who want to share their work with a small community.
  8. Yeah, publisher may be ok. But they make books so damned expensive which is the opposite of what I intended. Another thought crossed my mind later in the afternoon: perhaps I could print out my poetry then make tons of 2-sided copies. That way I could skip the editorial process & would only need a book binder. Cheap & easy and no companies to deal with who only do things for money. I would just charge binding fees and S&H for people outside my province. Good solution? Still affordable & it's basically what I wanted in the first place. Paper quality would suffer, but I can live with that
  9. I write for the love of the written word, not money or fame. When I was young I wanted to write an epic & have it published, probably thinking of money though, I was only about 10 after all. Now it's more about doing what I love & sharing it with others. As I continued the search for my epic dream I began writing short stories, then lyrics for the bands I joined and finally poetry. The odd short story pops up, however the book evades me. In the meantime I just keep writing for the love of it. Better than sex! My, my... I do ramble on
  10. Yeah... and I jinxed my Steelers by praising their great games. Suddenly losing games that they really should have won easily Careful... your Packers may now be jinxed as you noted their winning ways
  11. As many of you know I've been writing a book of poetry. With the completion of it looming I've been shopping it around. It's gotten fair reviews from publishers who, in the end, decide to pass. I've got one more publisher to visit, however they deal mainly with biographies and have never publicised a book of poetry. I've begun a book of short stories that would probably go in the direction the first two publishers would like, so all is not lost in my quest to achieve my dream of a publicised book. The survey? I guess it's this simple: 1. Should I abandon writing poetry? 2. Should I continue writing poems to share with family & friends as I have in the past? 3. Should I even bother with the short stories? Yep... that simple. (if this belongs somewhere else, feel free to move it, oh so powerful and god-like mods)
  12. I'm severely pizzed off! :beady: Brought select poems for my book to a publisher to give them a taste. The 2nd one in about 3 months. They said the same thing the first publication company said: "You have good ideas and you have some talent. The images are presented nicely... blah, blah, blah" And then that wonderful knife to the heart: "You simply don't carry many of your stories to the end in a straight line (DUH!! THAT"S THE WHOLE POINT!!), your writing is unrefined (fair enough. English is my second language) and often you only partially describe certain aspects of characters or places (AGAIN: DUH!!)... sorry we just can't/ won't blah, blah, blah..." Is it just me or are these people retarded? I'm not going to sacrifice a readers imagination because I'm not a newspaper reporter. I really wish editors didn't cost so much or I would stick to my original plan & self-publish this damned book. :badcomp:
  13. Granted. Her name is Lola. I wish my book wasn't rejected (for the second time, now!) :beady:
  14. Goldeye! yummy! Name your bank account private security codes. Seriously: Name an actor/actress who (in your eyes) is both good-looking and masters of their craft.
  15. WooHoo!! I took a wild jab not knowing when FireHouse even began --------- Easy one: The Rolling Stones receive all royalties to this hit song despite never having recorded or performing it.
  16. When will Sammy re-appear on SF after deciding to actually work? We barely made enough to survive
  17. Hate to say it, CanAm: every country is still violent due to bigotry & hatred. It's taken a long time for us to accept other peoples beliefs, lifestyles, etc, but there are still many who die because of the color of their skin or what god they worship. It's not as bad as it was 100 years ago, but it may take that long in the middle east. Even after Hitler was destroyed people continued to carry on his philosophies. Hatred and violence is human nature. We are a self-destructive animal. With no natural predators we must destroy ourselves to keep our population at a tolerable number. Not a nice thing to say, but it's my take on humanity.
