  1. Invariably not the best effort they put out. This album is the most single-friendly of all. In other words, the singles were excellent and had b-sides of similar quality, but the album tracks themselves weren't up to snuff and sounded more like filler material. I'd have been a happy camper had this been a 5 or 6-track e.p.; it'd probably rate even higher with less songs. I don't have any actual knowledge of how a record is made, but this looked and sounded so slick at the time that the Peter Saville covers alone would make one rush to their nearest music shoppe to see if they had the imports in stock (I'm speaking from a North American reference point). It sort of reminded me of the time when I had to own every album and song by The Smiths and Morrissey. Here's the list of the songs in order: 1 Electricity 2 Savoir Faire 3 Can't Get Enough 4 Everything Will Flow 5 Down 6 She's in Fashion 7 Asbestos 8 Head Music 9 Elephant Man 10 Hi-Fi 11 Indian Strings 12 He's Gone 13 Crack in the Union Jack The boldened tracks are the better songs from the album. That's pretty much all the singles. Had they actually gone ahead and included/replaced some of the b-sides with the filler tracks, this album could easily be Suede's best - perhaps one of the best of the decade. If this was their last album, they would've ended on a really high note. You'd almost forget that they weren't working with Bernard Butler - almost. Songs like "Electricity" and "Everything Will Flow" harken back to that unashamed heroine Rock sound of their first two albums while those memorable b-sides, such as "Leaving" and "Seascape", will undoutedly make for repeat listenings on rainy days and cool afternoons; very sweet, very mellowdic: The best downbeat music can offer this side of Kent and Mazzy Star. If you don't already own it, get it. Preferrably the singles, but, if not, then the album that includes "Leaving" as a bonus track.
  2. It and Freaks for me with a dash of Separations
  3. Love the Ultravox song and vid. I used to have a bunch of their music videos on tape a long time ago. Vienna and Reap The Wild Wind were two of my favourites.
  4. Well, in all fairness, dihydrogen monoxide in large quantities can become toxic http://chemistry.about.com/cs/5/f/blwaterintox.htm
  5. Who am I kiddin'? I got Please Don't Hurt 'Em when it came out on cassette Janet Hackson had that song that sampled Erik Satie's "Gymnopedie".
  6. No complaints in that dept. If that's the last of her assets she's gonna hock on the tellie, then by all means
  7. I'm surprised this review didn't get a response. I'm more into the stuff they were cutting in the 80s - the earlier the better, but it's a decent introduction to Pulp's music.
  8. I think her most recent drek overshadows that. Wha'ppen to the days of Rhythm Nation?
  9. Feeling social when the world is slapping
  10. Aren't most artists kind of off-putting with their attitudes? Can't blame 'em - you gotta be your best promoter in the arena of Pop musak. Worst would be anything in the last 15 years by Janet Jackson. Worse than Mariah, Bette Midler, Modern Talking, and Spear Britnay COMBINED
  11. This coming from a guy with a MC Hammer avatar I do like their music. They were played often back in the 80s. "Cheri Cheri Lady" and "Brother Louie" were two big hits around the world.
  12. I talk to very few people during the day I embellish some things, but I couldn't flat out lie to them. If you're in a customer service job, though, it's your duty to lie in the manner Kevin described.
  13. I thought your signature said, "Feeling SoCal when the world is sleeping." It'd kinda make sense since everyone else is to the east.

    Netflix

Netflix and Hitflix. They both carry a huge variety of movies that the others don't have. I used to rent videos through the mail way back before it was even convenient with dvds. Facets Multimedia in Chicago was my source of rare and hard-to-find videos. The drawback is that they were vhs, so the shipping was not convenient. Plus, their rental fees were pretty high. It was something like 35 bucks to rent three or four vids off their cinematheque library. I've had netflix since December of 2003 with very little problems. If netflix doesn't carry it, then I search hitflix's library to see if they carry it. This is how I managed to get my greasy mits on "The Last Orgy Of The Third Reich"
  15. Sales. An attractive female can embellish all kinds of things about a product - and guys will readily buy it This is why I am mortified of ending up in sales.
  16. Rage Against The Korn Bizkit Never understood their popularity
  17. It's the "third version" from the Munch musee that was stolen. I got that from wikipedia
  18. I think there's more than one of "The Scream" by Munch and, yes, one of them was stolen and never recovered.
  19. Exactly. I have a hard enough time remembering people's names. It'd be hell if I were to lie to them and remember who I told what lie to. Some people are really proficient at this.
  20. John Barry's best score was for Nicolas Roeg's Walkabout
  21. I try not to lie and if I were given the option of saying a lie or the truth I'd rather not say anything at all. Now that I think about it, there are two reasons why I don't have many people around me in real life: 1. I tell them the truth 2. I don't seek to be with lots of people because I tell them the truth
  22. I've had two disposable cameras for over a year and I haven't finished half of either. During that time my hair went from really short to shoulder length, to shorter, to feathered, to pompadour, and now it's unkempt 'cause I can't afford to have it cut. I have made it my goal to finish the roll of film and get the pics printed one of these days - even if I don't look like myself anymore.
  23. I have a compilation of his songs, but no actual albums. The song is kind of upbeat and poppy. As I remember it, it sounds like Howard Jones. Ironically, I dislike the bulk of his music.
