  1. I would be Miss Kitty Gamble, which I just love and if I wasn't already Sweet Jane on the air that would be my name!
  2. But are your feeling a tad bloated today sammy??
  3. The Black Crowes won't accept apoplogy..... It was recently revealed that Maxim magazine printed a review of The Black Crowes' new album, Warpaint, despite its writer not having heard the entire record, since only the single had been made available at that time. The album was given 2.5 stars. A statement from Maxim Editorial Director James Kaminsky said that, "It is Maxim's editorial policy to assign star ratings only to those albums that have been heard in their entirety. Unfortunately, that policy was not followed in the March 2008 issue of our magazine and we apologize to our readers." However, the Crowes' management has issued a statement in response, rejecting the magazine's apology. The band's manager, Pete Angelus, stated, "In my opinion, Maxim's fabrication of an album review is highly unethical and indefensible. This issue potentially pertains to all artists and their craft, and a publication which apparently has no respect for either." Angelus concluded, "In my opinion, Maxim's 'apology' is self-serving damage control by failing to mention The Black Crowes. The appropriate action from Maxim is to immediately issue a public apology to The Black Crowes for disparaging both the band and their soon to be released new album, Warpaint, without having heard the material." Warpaint will be out this coming Tuesday, March 4.
  4. I just watched Amanda sing Carry On Wayward Son, and I did cringe a bit, she shouldn't have sang that song. I would like to see her do some Melissa Etheridge or some older blues tunes.
  5. Tears In Heaven - Eric Clapton All Those Years Ago - George Harrison Angel Of Harlem - U2 For You Blue - The Beatles Shine On You Crazy Diamond - Pink Floyd Old Man - Neil Young Wild Horses - The Rolling Stones Isn't She Lovely - Stevie Wonder Killing Me Softly - Roberta Flack Peggy Sue - Buddy Holly And The Crickets
  6. AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- Buddy Miles, a drummer who played with Jimi Hendrix and sang in the claymation commercials featuring the California Raisins in the 1980s, died Tuesday. He was 60. Miles, who had been suffering from congestive heart failure, died in Austin, publicist Duane Lee said. Miles, who was born in Omaha, Nebraska, was performing with his father's jazz-influenced combo by the age 11. He then went on to play for The Delfonics, The Ink Spots and Wilson Pickett, according to his Web site. He co-founded the band Electric Flag in 1967. He also co-founded the Band of Gypsys with Hendrix and Billy Cox, the Web site said. Miles was drummer on Hendrix's landmark "Electric Ladyland" album before officially joining Band of Gypsys a few months later. Miles is best known for "Them Change," a song he wrote and performed.
  7. Bob Dylan ~ Blowing In The Wind Stevie Wonder ~ Blowing In The Wind I do favor the Stevie version. He gives the song the soul it needs.
  8. Edna, I agree somewhat with your thoughts. Janis wasn't at her best with her version and as we all know I'm a true blue Janis fan. I'm not big on the BeeGees, but I do like that song, Janis just didn't seem to quite get it where it should be, and for her that was a surprise.
  9. I just have a question...when did it become a major deal for a thread to go off topic for a few posts? It's bound to happen, and if you can't handle that, then don't read the posts. Nothing to freak out about. We all have done it, so what. That's my opinion on the subject.
  10. cottage cheese with raspberries, special k cereal bar and cranberry juice...I feel a tad fruity today!
  11. I'm going to be different here, mainly because I can and go with Pipeline, good song and not so overplayed as Wipeout.
  12. I saw the David Archuleta clip this morning and he just ruined one of the best songs in classic rock. He turned it into a bad sounding broadway tune. At first I didn't even know what song he was singing it was such a terrible version. Even though I don't like this show all that much, I would hate to see him win. And odds are he will since they tend to push through people that don't have what it takes with the exception of a few in the past.
  13. A bit about my nomination... Janis took hold of the rock and roll world with a strong embrace and held tight until she died. She was ballsy with a voice that took you into her soul. Her short time in the music world was a powerful one. With all her in your face presence on stage and sassiness, she still had a childlike sweetness about her that made you love her even more.
  14. Well Jim we got enough here for us and your area too. Tired of snow and ice and winter! And no worries about shifting off the topic, I was part of it also and those it bothers, well they can just go and read another topic. As you said we only shifted slightly not pounding out a ton of posts off subject. As for AP, when I played it last week in my show I had a couple of listeners call in and say that was cool, that they listened to AP as teenagers. Always good to flashback to being a teen!
  15. I wish I knew, I feel like I live in the north pole as of late!! Will is more of an 80's guy, he says my listeners like stoner music which they do so I bet today was a little different for them, probably thought they had a flashback or something!!
  16. Good to know someone misses me! I hope I'm back tomorrow, we are getting slammed with snow now should have another 7 inches of snow by morning in addition to the 4 inches we already have...yuck!! I did tune in today and I heard Will playing Alan Parsons...he's learning!!
  17. At home with little miss. She had to go to the doctors today. Does that mean you missed me Ray??
  18. I'm a DJ at a station in Ohio and we stream.
  19. Yes, my nomination came in at number one....JANIS! Ok I had to get excited for just a moment...YEAH!! Great list too, cool!
  20. I suppose you're right Edna. I've never been an addict or had frineds that were, it was just something to do when we got high, not a way of life. I still wonder why when things were going to good in her life, that Janis had to shoot up again, just sad.
  21. I know this if off topic, but being the Janis fan I am, I've always wondered why and how she got the heroin that night and was she alone when she OD? Everything I've read said she was so intent on staying clean. And with her past I doubt the cops gave it a second thought that she might not have been alone that night.
  22. I say quite often.... cool...call women chicks....awesome....call almost everyone hun....what the hell...and freak me out...man...groovy stuck in the 70's for the most part...
  23. That for the next couple of hours I have the house all to myself...it doesn't happen often bug when it does...YEAH!!!
  24. Wanted to add a clip of Amanda from this past Tuesday night. This chick has it all...great voice, cool looks, and attitude. She's too good for American Idol in my opinion. Oh yeah watch the comments at the end. Simon just proves what an ass he is, he thought she didn't know the words to the song!! What a jerk! Baby Please Don't Go
  25. She is so not even close to Janis. I hate we she gets compared to Janis. Yeah Janis did some major drugs but she wasn't trashy and just a freak like Amy. Why Janis OD, who knows...she had been clean and sober for 6 months before that night. Even though she was clean and sober Janis still hung out with the same crowd of people. And Amy is doing the same, mainly her husband. Two addicts does not make a healthy home.
