  1. Tommy--the horns are really a major instrument there. James Brown! You're right, I love the horns in his songs. Otis Redding also..in some songs. I don't know too many of his songs, but I liked nearly everything I heard.
  2. I bought meself Remasters a couple of months ago, which is basically a compilation with Led Zeppelin songs, and my Dad's got IV on CD. It took me quite some time to get into them (like with Pink Floyd), but I've liked them since then. They're not my favourite band or anything, but I still love a lot of their songs, and my faves are Kashmir and Misty Mountain Hop.
  3. I'll recommend Ogdens' Nut Gone Flake by the Small Faces. It was quite a new direction for the band, it's very 60ish and the band arguably introduced a new concept of music , a rock opera, although you can argue about that. It's simply a great album and one of the era's best. Ah well, I'm no good at describing albums.
  4. The oldest is probably Frank Sinatra, and just Swing in general. Some older blues, too.
  5. The whole text is still in the Deutschlandlied, but the national anthem only consists of the third verse.
  6. It's actually one of the few songs of today that i really like... What hooks me on a song i most definitely the music. There's so many songs with really good lyrics, but the music just doesn't appeal to me. It's like that with a number of Bob Dylan songs; all great lyrics, but...I can't really listen to them.
  7. Brian Jones is--how can I call that? One of my personal heroes, musically at least, maybe also in other areas. I can't tell people often enough that he in fact was a great, and very very gifted musician and not only some drugged, egocentric guy. As keith Richards said, he was just not fit for the show business.
  8. Actually I do like DJs...most of them anyway, but certainly not those who screw up the facts about a song, saying the John lennon died in 1990 and whatnot. Someone should fire them.
  9. Sorry if they were already mentioned, but reading nine pages of posts is a bit much for my tired mind now... Sweet Home Alabama (I'm pretty sure someone already said that, but...) I Can See For Miles -- The Who I Am The Walrus -- The Beatles
  10. Thanks! I hope I'll stick around a bit longer now...
  11. I love records! Sadly I grew (or still grow) up in a period where CDs are the real thing...Though I did have one or two records when I was a child, with children's stories on them. Does that count? I bought myself exactly two albums until now, because they're so expensive, otherwise I would've gotten a load more. And besides, I haven't got a record player.
  12. Oh, hey, someone remembers me! Oh, dunno, here and there...I was just busy and somehow I got lost.
  13. Has anyone mentioned Home by The Sea by Genesis yet? I know it's not that creepy, but it gives me the chills everytime I hear it.
  14. I always thought it was purple. Thanks for your help. Do you know where exactly I can find it, in which chapter, for example? I've spent the last two hours looking for it, but I can't find it.
  15. Ok, I've got some questions. 1. On what album can I find the Beatles' Rain? 2. On what album can I find the Beatles' The Inner Light? 3. During Woodstock, there was this guy shouting "Don't take the purple acid. The purple acid is bad!" Can I find this somewhere on the soundtrack or on the DVD? I hope someone will help me...
  16. Everything I Own -- Boy George. Oh, well....
  17. That Elvis-song where he starts laughing in the middle of it, and on lots of Who-songs you can hear Keith Moon screaming in the background.
  18. Classic Rock: The Who, Stones, Beatles, The Kinks, The Small faces Psychedelia: Jefferson Airplane, Pink Floyd Rock/Pop: Oasis, Tom Petty, The Traveling Wilburys Surf: The Beach Boys, Jan and Dean, The Atlantics Blues/Jazz: Elmore James, John Mayall, Muddy Waters, John Coltrane
