  1. Hot, smart, and funny; I'll just stick with that then. You girls are so sweet to me...
  2. Dammit! You know, if you could just speak a language that was easily translated online it wouldn't be such a problem. I'll just stick to my thinking that is basically says I'm hot!
  3. I don't think queen is the correct term, more like evil little devil's. I'm still trying to figure out what they said. I think Jill's comment has something to do with my comment to Leah about finding her Luke Skywalker.
  4. Is docha nach bhfuil seans ar bith ann There, take that. ::
  5. Great, now I'll never know... I'll go find some language out there and type it in and then you'll have to figure out what I'm saying.
  6. I have no idea what it means, but my name is in the statement. I hope you didn't just call me a cheese head.
  7. Oh no, they're starting to speak in tongues. Someone get the exorcism kit right away. You know, if I knew another language really well I would type it here. But I don't, so I'll just keep on typing American!
  8. The Irish girls got me hooked on Manic Street Preachers. In the past month I found and purchased 3 of their albums (one of them I bought when I was in California though). So Leah, have you found your Luke Skywalker yet...?
  9. But you still can't play them in the car. Can you imagine if there was some type of in-dash record player. That thing would be HUGE!
  10. I usually just flip through my CD case while dodging on-coming cars and grab the first CD that says "listen to me this time" and go about it that way. Either that or I'll get a song stuck in my head and I have to play it at least 10 or 12 times before it finally leaves. Also, songs that I can belt out in the car are usually in the CD player more often than songs I don't know the words to but still listen to at work. I load all my CD's on my PC at work, hit the random button, and let-er fly!
  11. It's good, flows well, and definitely gets the point across. I like it.
  12. You completely misunderstood everything I said. Quality when comparing analog to digital has nothing to do with speed. It has to do with how the media is read. There is nothing more than that. Analog is mechanical, digital is not. That is where the quality comparison is. If you knew how to read a schematic and break down a digital circuit into all of it's functions, you would see it's not as simple as you think. Mass producing a CD is only a fraction of what goes into producing quality sound from a CD. I've been in the electronics production industry for 7 1/2 years and posses an electronics degree, don't argue electronic theory with me. And by the way, CD's spin fast because of the fact they are recorded as a complex serial bit stream that must be put back together in order to make a sound. Where as a record is recorded as sounds that are converted to magnetic fluctuations picked up by the needle and amplified so that the sound can be heard.
  13. Why thank you. I have some times where my mind has these very profound thoughts that just need to come out. I have more that I can post later.
  14. It has nothing to do with how fast something spins, it has to do with how mechanical the contact between the media and the media reading device is. There are NO mechanical contacts between a CD/DVD and the reader (the laser). The reason CD's get scratched is because no one seems to understand how to handle them. People will wear surgical gloves to handle their records but use sand paper to clean their CD's. And yes, digital is better than analog because there are less mechanical parts to wear out and there is NO contact between media devices. Digital is not easy to produce as there is so much that goes into it that the majority of the people here wouldn't understand. I used to do consumer electronics repair, an analog circuit is 10 times less complex than a digital one but 5 times harder to repair because of all the moving parts. Analog devices have limitations when it comes to their ability to reproduce the most accurate quality sound/picture; digital does not have these limitations. The whole point of comparing CD's to Vinyl is because they carry the same type of media that consumer's can purchase. That and the question was raised as to which is better. And reel to reel is no better than vinyl or cassette or even 8-track.
  15. Well, it's not a poem, but feel free to send it to anyone you'd like. It's really more of a thought to ponder...
  16. Okay, I can't help myself. I have a lot of things I've written and would like general comments. Or, at least get other people to read them. I wrote this one for my father on his 50th birthday. You?ve reached the half-century point in your life But your mind is still cunning, and sharp like a knife Your parenting skills have refined through the years Regardless of joy, anger, or tears You have become a man of great esteem I look up to you, and hope that I will be You?ve taught many lessons to your children you see We?ve learned right and wrong, and where they can lead I feel your influence everywhere I go I pass this on to my own child as he grows Grows and gains a knowledge in life I hope my decisions, come out just right For you are my mentor, my teacher, and the one I look up to, when things are going wrong You stretch out your hand and grab a hold And pull my head, out of the cold The waters of life that I try to cross Before I drown, die, or get lost A savior of God from the heavens above You grab my hand, and remind me that love Is a powerful weapon that when used just right Will fight away the terror, that comes out at night You?ve always made sure to keep me afloat You?ve always made sure, to give me much hope That life will get better as long as I try And wipe the tears, as they fall from my eye Now I realize that the words you have said Will save me each day, that I get out of bed So here is my thanks that I?m writing to you And hope you continue, to do what you do It?s a daily new start as you walk out the door Happy fiftieth Father, here?s to fifty more
  17. You Canadians are getting screwed. I can't imagine paying more than $15 on average per CD. I'm guessing you buy mostly online...?
  18. It reads to me as being about lost in life. Very interesting...
  19. Thank you Nikki, but this is the third one I've posted. Not that I'll stop, I just don't want to be a forum hog right now. And thank you Suzy, you always have wonderful things to say.
  20. It's like JFK, it will never leave our memories for as long as we shall live.
  21. This is something for all to ponder... I sit and collect my thoughts for another day Thinking about how much life has changed Time moves too fast and days go by too quickly I wish I could get off this ride and just slow down for one week But time is often just an interpretation A minute is always a minute A day is always a day A months is always a month But our mind perceives them in different ways In the blink of an eye another day has gone by and we start all over again the next morning Too bad we can?t start the previous day over and do it all over again But you can?t change the past and you have to adjust for the future No one else is going to stop their life just because yours has gotten away from you But what about those that do make time to help others What about those who disregard a time within their lives to help yours out Time hasn?t stopped for them but part of them has stopped in time I believe the term is friend Sometimes a friend can change your fresh start for the next day Whether it be a bit of good advice or a little helping hand But the best friends are those that dedicate their ears to you when you need it the most A time when you feel so distraught and just need someone to share your thoughts with Of course listening is only part of friendship When a response is necessary, that same friend will give it So instead of trying to change the past, try changing the future If you can?t do it alone, then look toward your friend for some free advice And always remember, that same friend may come to you for the same reasons So lend an ear and see if you can help their future Life will continue to change but that doesn?t mean it has to be bad Because a true friend will offer good advice to make those changes better In the words of Linkin Park ?Time is a valuable thing Watch it fly by as the pendulum swings Watch it count down ?til the end of the day The clock ticks life away? Basically, you can die sad and alone or happy and with friends Friendship is the treasure with infinite value Friendship can help mend the wounds time has created I can?t change the past, I can?t slow down time, so I?ll just lean on a friends? shoulder and hope for a happy ending Without friends, life is meaningless And time won?t stop so that you can make your life meaningful Because if you don?t take the time to do it yourself, time will be lost And you can never get that back See the problem is, you just blinked too many times
  22. All right, this is a poem, written quite some time ago. Maybe it will lighten people's spirits and give them something to look forward to. Life is filled with decisions you make The hardest one is which path you?ll take The road of joy is full of deceit A path of lava which burns your feet The road of sorrow does not shed light No silver lining in the dark of night But the road we hate is the one we choose We laugh and cry we profit and lose We hit the bottom we hit the top We go back and forth and never stop For happiness comes with a price We struggle to find all day and night But life has a way and life has a reason To change ourselves like we?re a season You may think it hurts you may feel the pain But with all the bad a knowledge you?ll gain Apply your smarts and grow each year Do not look back do not shed a tear But you can look back when it is through And thank the life that has been brought to you
  23. Daniel our young friend, I hate to disagree with you, but the last time I went to a store that was selling The Beatles on vinyl, they were $25 - $45 for single album sets. That's 2 - 3 times the price of CD's. Vinyl has started to become a collectible item and the demand is going up for quality records. Kind of sad... How much do you think those 8-tracks are worth?
  24. When I read it all at once it sounds good, but when you add in the line breaks and the punctuation it just seems to add to the poem so much. I really need to start posting more of my own stuff. Of course, last time I did poetry no one responded..
  25. Jr, I like the way you handle confrontations. You're so upfront but polite and do it without getting into a name calling battle. I have the utmost respect for you. And I think we should change this post to: Suzy's Music Facts For The Day... The Google Goddess does us so many favors, and yet when she has a question for us we just can't seem to find the answer. The peasants are ashamed...
