  4. There really was a sense ' the music died ' that day as rock was quite new and fairly limited in stars. Thanks for the reminder , unclejoe ! BTW, anyone interested in Don Maclean's song can find a fair number of sites on the web, some of which analyze it as though it were one of the 'Canterbury Tales' or a Shakespearean sonnet ! -- which it is in a modern-sort of way, I guess. Check them out.
  5. "Jive Talkin'"-- BeeGees; written a few years earlier then picked up along with others by Robert Stigwood for "Saturday Night Fever".

  19. "Escape (The Pina Colada Song)" -- Rupert Holmes Not sure if this one fits , but it should be mentioned (it's just so DAMN GREAT) : " Third Rate Romance" -- The Amazing Rythm Aces (performed notably by numerous country artists )
  20. Alot of songs with serious themes or topics often are written and performed leaving us with a sad, helpless, and/ or thoughtful feeling. This is, of course, the intention of the artist. However some skillful artists can deliver a heavy message within an upbeat, funky, or even sexy melody--even danceable. One rarely feels down after listening to them -- in fact , just the opposite, often. Any thoughts on examples of the latter type ? TLC: "Waterfalls" -- great sexy- sounding tune that speaks about monogamy and the dangers of AIDS. Marvin Gaye: "What' Goin' On" -- funky tune about gun violence/ war Prince:" Sign O' The Times": -- again a funky song with various social evils/ troubles such as drug addiction

  23. Great story, Elena ! Fortunate , I think, that at least something resembling a name resulted -- it could be worse ! This is the first online forum I have ever joined and having little or no exposure to them, simply typed in my name when asked for it assuming everyone else did as well ( I always bow to the 'authority' of forms ). The numbers were assigned by the site -- and they kind of bug me now as I feel like an Alcatraz inmate or a robot or clone when I read it now.
