Slowhand
Blah, gag me. I like Coldplay and Snow Patrol, and even Razorlight. But those bands are not Indie.
invisible_r
interesting article. i often get confused about what indie really is to be honest. I thought it meant that that you had to be signed with an independent record label, but more than half the bands that are called indie are not. Then it gets even more confusing when snow patrol and coldplay are called indie, not just because they are signed with major labels, but because they don't have much to say! (although remember that snow patrol were around for ages before they became famous)
Farin
just for fun I just looked into Wikipedia's List of Indie Rock Artists - found artists like R.E.M. and RHCP , curiously NOT Coldplay but what I found interesting, even quite a few bands normally associated with "Indie", like The Kooks, Franz Ferdinand, OK Go, The Killers, etc. are all members of some major label... also it seems that at least 2 of the "Big 4" record companies have subdivisions of "Independent Labels"... :wacky:
