He will donate the cash to his Aids charity. Elton John has accepted $180,000 in damages from British newspaper the Daily Mail after it printed claims about the star's behavior at his annual White Tie And Tiara charity ball last year. A spokesman for the singer says Elton is "happy with the settlement," which he will donate to his Aids charity. The 59-year-old argued the story negatively affected the reputation of his fundraising. In February, the star accepted undisclosed damages from British newspaper The Sunday Times, after it reprinted the Daily Mail's libelous claim.
