Hendrix, Wonder Cole Songs Preserved

The annual selection of works for the National Recording Registry have been announced.

Works from Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Wonder and Nat “King†Cole were among the 2006 selections chosen by The Library of Congress for its National Recording Registry, which preserves audio events that are culturally, historically or aesthetically important.

Hendrix’s 1967 classic 'Are You Experienced' made the cut, as did Wonder’s 1976 masterpiece 'Songs in the Key of Life' and Cole’s 'Straighten Up and Fly Right.'

The Library of Congress has registered recordings since the year 2000.

Other works among the 50 chosen this year include:
