RonJonSurfer
Santana Gig Canceled Organizers failed to raise enough funds for the April concert in San Francisco. A free Carlos Santana concert to mark the centennial of the 1906 San Francisco, California earthquake has been canceled, after organizers failed to raise enough funds. The Mexican singer, 58, offered to perform for free at the April 22 gig, but the concert's producers admit separate costs propelled the bill to over $1.5 million. San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom is hopeful the city can mark the 100th anniversary of the April 18, 1906 quake, which measured 7.8 on the Richter scale and killed an estimated 3,000-6,000 people, later this year. Newsom says, "It will be even bigger and better than what we had been planning." Copyright World Entertainment News Network 2006
