As a colony of the Commonwealth, Australia was used as a convict island, and convicts from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales were brought to Australia to serve their sentences. These criminals and petty crooks formed the basis of this great country which keeps up a fine tradition of multiculturalism and immigration. Happy Birthday Australia!!
