cockrocker788
Hey guys, in choir, we're singing this song called "same direction" by hoobastank. What does it mean, or does it mean anything?
Earth-Angel
Artist : Hoobastank Song : Same Direction Whenever I step outside Somebody claims to see the light It seems to me that all of us have lost our patience Cause everyone thinks they're right And nobody thinks that there just might Be more than one road to our final destination But I'm not ever gonna know if I'm right or wrong Cause we're all going in the same direction And I'm not sure which way to go Because all along, we've been going in the same direction I'm tired of playing games Of looking for someone else to blame For all the holes in answers that are clearly showing For something to fill the space Was all of the time I spent a waste Cause so many choices point the same way I was going But I'm not ever gonna know if I'm right or wrong Cause we're all going in the same direction And I'm not sure which way to go Because all along, we've been going in the same direction Going in the same direction Same direction (same direction) So why does there only have to be one correct philosophy? I don't wanna go and follow you just to end up like one of them And why are you always telling me what you want me to believe? I'd like to think that I can Go my own way and meet you in the end Go my own way and meet you in the end I'm not ever gonna know if I'm right or wrong Cause we're all going in the same direction And I'm not sure which way to go Because all along, we've been going in the same direction Going in the same direction Going in the same direction Same direction (same direction) Breaking free is again the subject of discussion in the disc's opening track, "Same Direction," which starts with a light guitar riff then heads into such lyrics as "We're all going in the same direction, and I'm not sure which way to go..." The questioning continues in "What Happened To Us?" which ponders what happened to the singer's relationship. "We used to be so perfect, now we're lost and lonely," Robb sings. Personally, what I read into the lyrics are that it's about his relationship with God/higher power. And how he used to be a strong believer and follower, but since he's grown up and there are other things in the world to tempt him. The "straight and narrow" isn't much fun with so many earthly pleasures that his faith would deny him, he's going to do his own thing but he still wants to go to heaven in the end. In other words he's not turning his back on 'God', but rather deviating from being 100% Christian in every way and being more 'human'. I also think it points to people with diverse beliefs finding their own way to heaven. ?My dad used to be a Presbyterian minister, and I was brought up with this Christian, ?we are right? mentality. . . . I?m just not down with that lack of respect for other people?s beliefs.? The lead singer has also been quoted as saying Christianity is "too narrow." Hope that answers your questions, but I'm sure there are other opinions floating round here as to what it's all about! :: Maybe others have a different idea after reading the lyrics? marko90
To give a different spin on Earth-Angels post.... I would say this song is about this guy who is in a relationship, possibly a controling one, where he has to be with her 1005 of the time, and he wants to go a seperate way for awhile, you know like take a break from the relationship, but still end up back with her in the end, because he still loves her, he just wants a break from the controlling aspect of the relationship! that my take on it anyways... OH! Welcome to song Facts!! peac out hombres
cockrocker788
I agree with you Earth-Angel. People in choir we're trying to tell me it was about taking the straight and narrow, and i tryed to tell them that it was about the opposite but i live in the south so you can't deviate from cristianity because thats a sin. Peace out and thanks for confirming my thoughts.
