philscotinoz Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 Can anybody help me with the title of a song from 1964 or 1965,all i remember are the words breakaway, breakaway, breakaway,i've searched every list from 1964 to 1966,the song is going around in my head and it's making me gaga lol,it was a real catchy song,i remember i was mad for it when it was played on the radio,i was about 16 or 17 at the time,if only i knew the actual title, only the word breakaway is stuck in my head.
edna Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 "Breakaway" - Irma Thomas maybe? It's from 1964. There was many covers (tracey Ulmann in the 80s)
Yellowsnow Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 Could it be "Breakaway" by Irma Thomas? It's from 1964. YouTube link
Brad_M Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 I'm thinking it may be this one. They say the word breakaway 3x in succession. It's a song of a guy telling the girl to break away from the guy she's with and run into his arms instead. It peaked at #40 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart in Feb. 1965. "Break Away (From That Boy)" - The Newbeats
