babyteen
One thing I'd like to have is a full detailed version of the making of Sergeant Pepper, with all of the details behind every song. For example, the inspiration for the song, how the song was made, recording techniques, and all the different instruments and equipment that they used. Is there a possibility that there is a DVD out there with a full detailed version of the making of Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band? I know there's one out there that's a little under an hour, but it doesn't seem to have all the details that I was expecting. In other words, it doesn't really delve deep into each and every song, one at a time. What I mean is, the entire album sessions, including all of the outtakes and interviews, from beginning to end. I'm the kind of woman who loves to have every little small detail on any piece of music, including the details and outtakes of every recording, and especially all those interviews with the stars and the crew. I just love the accents in their spoken tones! I've got to say The Beatles are so cool! I tried sending an Email to info@georgemartinmusic.com, but sadly, the email got returned to me with a message that says, "Mailbox Unknown". The email address is what I found on http://www.georgemartinmusic.com
edna
Hi Babyteen!! As far as I can tell, the "Making Of Sgt Peppers" DVD is the only video where Martin and McCartney tell about how they recorded the album. Hre´s a link to some material for fans, with extra takes and such: http://www.jpgr.co.uk/dvd_totlpepper.html I know there are many interviews where The Beatles speak about the album and how they got the ideas... even the HunterDavies book. http://www.aboutthebeatles.com/discography_lp_sgtpepper.php Here´s a link to some Sgt Peppers info... Charlie Clown
I know you ask about DVDs but have you tried the book Revolution In The Head by Ian MacDonald? In case you don't know it it's a really detailed trawl through the genesis, writing and recording of every single track they recorded. It might give you the sort of detail you're looking for.
