RonJonSurfer
McCartney Hopes Beatles Rock Band Game Will Keep His Music Alive McCartney reveals the project will span every musical twist and turn the Beatles took during their Sixties heyday. Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney hopes a new Rock Band game based on the Fab Four will help to introduce his music to a new generation of kids. The "Hey Jude" hitmakers' record label Apple Corps. signed a deal with Rock Band manufacturers MTV and Harmonix last year to create a new interactive game based on the Beatles' music. Rock Band allows users to play along to music, virtually, using replicas of instruments. And McCartney reveals the project will span every musical twist and turn the Beatles took during their Sixties heyday. He says, "It will feature different periods of the band you get early days, Liverpool, then psychedelic, and on from there. "It's very cool. And I like the idea that the game introduces kids to music, you know?" Copyright World Entertainment News Network 2009
Steel2Velvet
Where's that "Sellouts" thread? Like, their music needs this to attract listeners? It's probably for the best that John and George are not around to see this day.
RonJonSurfer
Having played Rock Band with my kids, I realize it is very cool to sit there and play rock star. I kind of like the idea of kids all over the world (young and old) really getting in to The Beatles music.
Mike
Yep, it's funny, in the car I will playing a song on the player and my son and I will say, "that's on GH2, or GH3" He'd like it anyway, I'm sure, but it's cool. And I've noticed my daughters music folders have morphed over the years to less pop and junk to more rock and many of the same songs that are in my folders. The Beatles tunes will live on strong with or with you rock band.
Steel2Velvet
It's marketing, pure and simple. I just always felt The Beatles portfolio was beyond the need for extra efforts to "sell" it to anyone.
LeeBB
Oh, the "Hey Jude hitmakers"... those Beatles. Don't confuse them with the "Starman hitmaker, David Bowie" .

LeeBB
Is this the same bloke as "Former Wings bass player, Macca"?
bazooka
Rock Band allows users to play along to music, virtually, using replicas of instruments. Rock Band's "instruments" are pretty much expensive glorified game controllers that bear no relation to really playing music. Being a kickass Rock Band or Guitar Hero player won't qualify anyone as a musician.

Mike
But it is fun. It is, and it helps encourage kids to take up "real" instruments. New research shows up to 2.5 million children have picked up guitars and drums after playing music-themed video games Link
