  1. Excited to watch...hopefully it is as good as Murray's other song, "Leggy Blonde"!
  2. But I guess the fact that we disagree with these people just affirms their assertion that they are overrated.
  3. This guy has no idea what he's talking about
  4. Smoke On The Water is probably still on top as far as rock riffs go, but I think for most kids Teen Spirit is the first complete song they learn how to play.
  5. well, here is a video of the kind of show I have in mind... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oGECJP3phyY but a camera really can't capture what it's like to be at a big dance show like this. it probably looks stupid to someone viewing this on their computer, but when you're in the midst of something like this it's absolutely incredible.
  6. I still think Kurt counts as a rock god though...just ask anyone who's been born after 1980 what the first song they learned on electric guitar was...and chances are it's Smells Like Teen Spirit.
  7. I've never been to a legitimate all-night-everyone's-on-E rave before, but I've been to plenty of electronic dance music shows and I don't think drugs are necessary in the slighest to enjoy them. I went stoned to a few dance shows but that wasn't a good idea...I was just tired and thirsty and it made it difficult to dance. I find that alcohol is the best lubricant for groovin...if used in (relative) moderation of course! Just enough to loosen me up, not enough to make me puke on the dance floor, haha.
  8. Yeah but Kurt Cobain was a rock god because he exposed how insecure rock gods actually are
  9. Alright good point. They aren't folk then. Anyways, it's kind of splitting hairs to have too deep a discussion about what genre something is. I like Flight of The Conchords a LOT by the way . Not only are htey hilarious, their music is legitimately good.
  10. I mean, I bet people do take acid at raves, I'm just saying for most people MDMA is associated with dancing and LSD is associated with tripping out in nature. One thing I am pretty sure about, though, is that in electronic dance music, the term "acid" doesn't mean the music is supposed to be listened to on acid, it is actually describing a certain sound made on the 303 bassline synthesizer. Like if you listen to 'acid house,' or 'acid techno,' or 'acid (whatever),' most of it will have the heavily distorted 303 with a really distinctive envelope on.
  11. Raves are all about MDMA, and as far as I know, MDMA is as old as raves themselves. things could be different up in Canada though I suppose
  12. eric clapton is a great guitarist, but his guitar face looks like my grandma's reading-the-newspaper face
  13. wehn they started out, their live stuff was all folk...I bet it still is actually
  14. I don't think "true LSD" is a legitimate point to make, since it's always been a synthesized chemical, as opposed to something like psycosilibin which grows naturally. And nobody takes acid at parties, as far as I know. But then, I'm in Eugene Oregon, a land full of 60's artifacts
  15. no adult would ever admit it, but Lil Wayne is definitely a rock god, if this is based off personality and image...which it seems to be.
  16. That totally makes sense to me. I remember when Tony Hawk came out on N64, me and pretty much everyone I know learned how to skateboard within the next year.
  17. I used to prefer Lennon, lately I prefer Paul. I've just kind of come to the realization that when I listen to music I'm more interested in it being good pop than good art. My thoughts are that good pop is always good art, but good art is not always good pop.
  18. Nick Drake - Pink Moon Daft Punk - Discovery Tangerine Dream - Phaedra would be a good top 3
  19. Possibly my favorite label ever. It's only competition is Warp and Blue Note.
  20. haha, Ishkur has convinced me of many things, but that is not one of them. How could I deny Massive Attack's homeland? However, it does appear that the UK is responsible for a lot of electronic stuff that sounds incredibly stupid, but is still pretty fun to listen to, like Rotterdam or Gabber
  21. This website has convinced me that France is the best thing to happen to music in the past 20 years
  22. Yeah the guy can get pretty sarcastic about a lot of the genres on there, and he even admits in the disclaimer that he made some of it up, but I know that all the important stuff is accurated, and I think it's probably the most informative music site I've ever seen.
