  1. The Oregon Ducks are totally killing it this year. And our badass running back is going to get to come back later in the season and punch more people in the face. It's a good season to be a UO fan.
  2. Good call on this group, Hubert Laws is probably my favorite jazz flutist.
  3. I guess someday albums will not be sold at all, but who cares really, professional musicians were able to make a living long before the invention of recorded music. I'm always confused when people act like music was born with the vinyl record and will die with the CD.
  4. I've never been more excited for a college football game than Oregon vs. USC (Oregon home game) tomorrow. Tickets sold out within a matter of minutes, unfortunately, but watching the game on tv will still be great, and I actually think the Ducks are going to win it. And after the game's over, it will be Halloween night and no matter what the outcome of the game is, I will be surprised if less than half of Eugene is literally set on fire by the end of the night.
  5. Chromeo sings about washing your hands on the totally awesome show, Yo Gabba Gabba
  6. Oh, didn't see that this thread was also about jazz in general. Well my favorite jazz album for sure is "A Love Supreme" by John Coltrane. "A Love Supreme" "Giant Steps" is a great album by John Coltrane. This song is so crazy. "Giant Steps" I also really like the pianist Bill Evans. Bill Evans - "Autumn Leaves"
  7. George Benson is a really good jazz fusion guitarist. He's nto really jazz/rock fusion though, he's jazz/pop fusion, which is usually pretty bad but Benson does it really well. Check out my two favorite songs by him (the 2nd one was a hit in 70's I think) "Affirmation" "Breezin" I also used to be really into the Mahavishnu Orchestra. I don't listen to them much anymore but not for any reason besides the fact that there's a lot to listen to and not a lot of time! John McGlaughlin is great. "Meeting of the Spirits"
  8. Players do win championships...if the owner has put together a good team of players. Space Jam is the greatest movie of all time. PEACE OUT!
  9. I always thought that was weird...do you know if there's a reason they aren't called the New Jersey Giants?
  10. I eagerly await the day that happens. Baseball fans will have to choose whether they accept Barry Bonds (my childhood baseball hero, and thus my baseball hero for life) or reject post-McGwire/Sosa MLB as a whole. Not to say everyone was juicing, but come on, every team probably at least had one juicer. Unfortunately there will probably never be a complete list of all the juicers, as the smart ones (i.e. my childhood baseball hero) probably stopped once they started testing for them.
  11. That's what I thought too, and I was about to say "Are you nuts? We've never won a world series!" well the NY Giants won a few, but the SF Giants, no
  12. Now that I think about it, my favorite thing about college football is drinking lots of cheap beer in public, and Blount's suspension will likely have no effect on that.
  13. And with one punch, the Ducks lose their chances of a Pac-10 title.
  14. Missy Elliott - Get Ur Freak On
  15. Yes the extremely exclusive and easy-to-categorize demographic of "guitar hero players" definitely know how to play the guitar well.
  16. Perhaps the singer reminds you of Hercules and Love Affair! because it's the same dude! I haven't heard too much of this band, but Antony's voice really creeps me out. When I work up the courage I'd like to check them out though.
  17. Batman

    OASIS SPLIT!!!

Well, even if you are of the opinion that they had a prime, they must have passed it by now anyway! look on the bright side.
  18. I actually just looked at that site for the first time the other day and a guy I recognized from parties around campus was on the front page.
  19. and I just want to say... The donald duck superhero fro guy is the best human being I have ever seen
  20. I have realized that the only way you can completely guarantee that nobody will ever consider you a hipster is if you call yourself a hipster. Then you'll just be a poser, which may be better, or may be worse, but I'd have no idea cuz I'm totally a hipster.
  21. It's really quite funny how different our opinions are on this band we both like...that is probably my least favorite off the album! Still pretty good though.
  22. I also remember looking at my little brother's Ipod once when he was 12 or so and I was 18 or so. It was funny because he had the typical stuff a 12 year old boy had on his ipod at the time, but also a few random songs from my itunes account. And I mean random. These weren't necesarrily songs I loved, they just happened to be on my itunes. But it was funny to see Tom Waits and Sebadoh there with Young Joc and AC/DC.
  23. I work at this arts camp for kids during the summer and it's always cute to see the kids learn rock songs on the guitar. I asked this one kid what he wanted to learn and he was like "I don't know, hot cross buns or something," but of course he didn't really want to learn that song, so I asked who his favorite band was and it was the Beastie Boys, I ended up teaching him "Fight For Your Right (To Party)." He said he couldn't practice it at home though because his mom didn't like him listening to the Beastie Boys.
  24. I think Missy Elliott is a good example of a female pop star who breaks the rules of sexism in the music industry. She's not especially attractive but in most of her songs she pretty much just uses men as sex objects. Kinda funny how the roles are reversed in her songs. Plus Timbaland always has excellent beats for her. I actually think she's pretty underrated in the scheme of modern pop.
