  1. Re:Jimmy Page and Puff Daddy or PDiddy or Whatever, I can't remember the song, but it was one of the good ones, on a Sat. Nite Live show. I could not believe Page would do that. I'm like Batman, I would hate people to think PD had anything to do with that song. I cringed during that whole performance!
  2. Most people should know by now, since I've been asked several times, but it's a Keith Richards drawing done from a famous Rolline Stone mag cover. I'd like one of the whole band but it's really hard to find something from the Stones thats not copyrighted up to the eyeteeth!
  3. My name is Carole. That would be Carol with an e. For some reason people seem to think I have added that e to be cutesy or something. I didn't. My mom named me for Carole Lombard for some reason. My birth certificate says Carole. I am constantly telling people that the e is not optional. My name is not Carol!! Carol is pronounced with an ahh sound.Carole is pronounced with an ehh sound. It drives me crazy! ::
  4. how much did you use? don't use it sparingly. Then continue to wipe it off (across from center out) until all the streakies are gone. I tend to Herbal Essence (you know for that orgas.. oops organic experience) but I really think any type would work. I also use soft lintfree cloth(like a baby diaper). Don't use paper towels. Just like with eyeglasses they will cause scratches
  5. The Monterey Pop Festival video and The Rolling Stones At Altamont, although that maybe Part of Rolling Stones documentary. I don't know for sure if there is a video on it alone. But you could research it. The music and the politics of the time were all rolled in to one( unlike now ). You could pick any song listed here and it would be pertinent in some way. It's up to you to figure out how. Hope it comes out well!!
  6. I was listening to Sister Golden Hair tonight on the way home. They are going to be playing here Sept. 17, and are giving away tickets on the radio. I called, they wanted caller nine and guess..go on .. just guess, I was, I was caller 9.
  7. This sounds ridiculous, but listen: if the scratches aren't deep, or they are those slight "scrapey marks" or they simply seem to skip for no real reason, try hair conditioner. It sounds stupid, but it works. Clean them with whatever you use, then apply the conditioner the same way. Continue to wipe the residue off until clean, across of course. Let them air dry 10-15 minutes or so and voila! Something about the dried conditioner as a protectorant. And the scratches fill up with the conditioner. I learned this from a radio dj. Sometimes you might have to repeat it every so often, but if it gets more wear out of the cd why not?
  8. I loved INXS. Didn't the lead singer kill himself? Have they done anything lately?
  9. Dave that was going on all over the country, it was the times, the protest against the war.And the 13 kids that were killed weren't the ones doing the damage. They were conducting a peaceful protest on the college campus. If you didn't live during the time you probably won't understand. Many protests did turn ugly on both sides, but this particular one wasn't like that. The governor overeacted.
  10. Oh, Dave some riot? You and Crovax need to read the article at www.spectacle.org . It wasn't a riot so much as a slaughter. I was young and had to go back and read this to get my facts straight. Thrteen students and protesters were slaughtered by the national guard, sent in by the governor of Ohio. This was done in response to some rocks being thrown, and an attempt to burn the ROTC building. The murderers were never brought to justice. Some riot? You guys need to read this. Crovax, your paper could center around this song alone. It happened May 4, 1970, right smack in the middle of you time period. A sad day in US history.
  11. Since political can make for a kind of serious paper, why not inject a little humor by using Alices Restaurant Massacre. It takes quite a while to get there, but it all rolls around to Vietnam and the draft(in case you didn't know).
  12. I don't know about that particular song, but Whitesnake has a song by the same title, different lyrics.
  13. For a completely low budget film, that was one bad ass movie! It affected anyone under the age of 25 pretty deeply. The underlying message as well as the lessons taught to the rednecks by BillyJack. There is a remake coming out starring The Rock. Think it will have the same effect on people? I think not.
  14. I have to agree with the above posts that the songs which had the most influence on people, and reflecting the mood of the times were The Times They are Achangin', Blowin' in the Wind by Dylan, and Ohio by CSNY. The artists with the most influence on music as a whole would have to be Hendrix, the Beatles, and the Beach Boys, each representing a different style and genre of rock music. They opened the eyes of musicians to really see what rock music could be.
  15. You are correct sir! That would be Coven with the original release. I had it, but alas, along with rest of my pre-flood collection, it floated down the Mississippi River.
  16. LMAO!!! Sammy I hurt my head when the chair fell backwards, and smeared my make-up from the tears rolling down my face! Now I've got to do it over, I have a work meeting to attend. You neglected to give us the date- I'll have to get a vacation day! ::
  17. Dave that's a good diet tip. Makes for a very low calorie meal, between not getting anything, and taking 2 hours trying! ::
  18. Thanks Don -- Now I'll be able to have three!! ::
  19. I can't figure why sporks haven't become a standard utensil. They are genius - You can eat your soup and your salad without changing utensils! ::
  20. Thanks guys, you made my mind come alive again. You hit the nail on the head. My Parsons albums were Grievous Angel, Live 1973, and Fallen Angels.Of the Burrito Brothers all I had was Gilded Palace of Sin. I absolutely loved Parsons, and his duet with Emmylou Harris of the original version of Love Hurts is one of my favorite songs. If my computer speakers hadn't died I could have figured these out for myself, but since I couldn't remember the titles I was kind of lost. Thanks again - I adore you both!
  21. I'm pretty sure there won't be many but - any fans left of Gram Parsons and/or The Flying Burrito Brothers? I won't even get into it if not. All my old albums were destroyed in the flood of 93 and you just don't hear anything on radio. I want to buy a couple cds but can't remember which titles I had. Help me out if you can! :: ::
  22. Oh sammy, I'm disappointed! I love Satriani. However, you have redeemed yourself with that Lavigne chick. What is she? Just a little girl singing the words she wrote in her little girls diary last night. ::
  23. I've always thought Steve Perry, Steve Winwood, and Don Henly had the best voices in rock, just for the sheer effortless quality with which they hit and maintain those notes. A comment going back a couple of posts. Concerning that walk that Chuck Berry "used" to do. He called it the duck walk. Honey that man still does it, every couple weeks at a club in St Louis called Blueberry Hill, in what else- The Duck Room. We go down there every so often and let me tell you, that man still rocks. He's 75!!!
  24. I went on my first shopping trip with my own babysitting money in 1969. I bought 3 things: Creedance's Willie and the Poorboys Janis with Big Brother and the Holding Copmpany's Cheap Thrills A suede leather fringed purse I thought I was one cool little chickie! One with good music taste though! ::
