  1. Crystal, I like Johnny Lang too, but I'm not crazy about Kenny Wayne Shepard(similar story- young kid playin old blues). How about you? Here in St Louis over the Labor Day Weekend they are having the Muddy Blues Festival. Four stages, eighteen bands, from well known to little known, and it's all free! We're pretty big on blues around here, of course. :guitar:

  3. I just wanted to express my sincere thanks to everyone for their concern and well wishes. Got the results of my tests today and Hallelujah it's not cancer!! It is however severe Grave's disease that I have apparently been living with for about three years. Now all they have to do is blast my thyroid with radioactivity until they literally destroy it. Doc thinks this is a good thing, and I suppose it is, but I can't help but feel it's just a slight step up from cancer. Oh well, I'll live with it, and you guys will have to continue to put up with me! Seriously, thanks again, you'll never know what your words meant to me.
  4. Sweet jane I like you icon, it's cool!
  5. Etta ~~ At Last, You Can Leave Your Hat On, I've Been Lovin You Too Long (top of the line favorite) Bessie Smith ~~ Baby Won't You Please Come Home Koko Taylor ~~ Evil, Bills Bills Bills Just a few of my favorites. Thanks for the hints on newer blues gals. Oh, and I'll take Bazooka as the gum - it makes the best bubbles!! ::
  6. Or you could just wash it.
  7. Sorry Angel ~~ you asked a perfectly nice question, you desevre a perfectly nice answer. I think you guys need to listen to some stuff together, and pick something that has lyrics that mean something to you both. Don't worry too much if it's appropriate for your guests, or if it just sounds pretty. They will forget it by tomorrow, you two will have it for the rest of your lives. I think it's an important statement. ok ~ i'll stop gushing now. ::
  8. I don't know Sammy, that would kind of open up yourself up to possoble debate amongst a lot of people. I don't doubt but... Please add me to the invitation list, cause if that's the first dance song, It'll be one he## of a reception! Ironman
  9. mmmmm...peanut butter. hey it will get gum out of your hair though! ::
  10. Really? I guess I was watching a really old rerun and didn't know it. I"m always at the lake on Sat. nights, usually in the store so I don't pay real close attention. I knew they were on together though. Thanks for clarifying.
  11. I'd be Courtney Cox Dancin' with Bruce, cause baby, I can shake it! I love to dance (not in Gilliann's league by a long shot though). No seriously I'd love to write lyrics. To have the talent to put feelings into words that are then turned into songs that people carry with them forever? That's giving something to the world.
  12. Ridin' with the King? Got it, Love it.Danny boy you rock (or is that you blue). I don't have any Paul Butterfield, although I think I've heard him. I'll check it out. If your friends want to hear rock, just put on Jimi and play Red House or Catfish Blues. You'll convert 'em. you guys haven't mentioned any women. Listen to Janis' Turtle Blues or Summertime or Little Girl Blue.Great. Bazooka(is that for the gum or the weapon?)Muddy Waters and Howlin Wolf are 2 that haven't got anything I don't like. London Sessions is great, and it's got a couple of my boys, Bill and Charlie. I adore Charlie Watts.
  13. Donna's just fine but if you must change it go with Princess Cariboo. That'll get you to the head of the line every time! ::
  14. You know me, the top of the heap has to be all the Stones Live albums, with Get Your YaYas Out at the tippy top. Jimi's Band of Gypsys is in there. And I like Bob Segers Live Bullet. That album rocks. Normally I'm not a big fan of live albums.
  15. Up your nose with a rubber hose Chrissie!!
  16. Unfortunatly, sometimes I think they are just done for.Cos has the best plan, and when I get my new 'puter next month that's what I'm gonna do. My soninlaw's building me one!!
  17. Jr what a great idea! Makes me wish I could get married all over again just for that tune. Course the hubby wouldn't know a jitterbug if it jumped up and bit him on the A$$. We used Wild Horses by the Stones cause it was kind of our song anyway. There was a 90's cover of it by a girl that is very pretty. Don't know her name though. Where is my head? Almost forgot, Congratulations Angel, I hope this is the beginning of a long and happy adventure. ::
  18. The pronunciation doesn't bother me so much- nobody gets that, I understand that. It's the leaving off the E even when it's someone who has known me for a long time. I'd like it to be spelled the way it is on my birth certificate. Carol is somebody else, not me.
  19. While my music will probably always be classic rock, since I was listening to it when it wasn't classic, it was new,I can only hear and actually enjoy certain songs so many times.I have become a huge fan of blues in the last 10 years or so.How about anyone else? Comments good or bad? Here's my "short list" of favorites: Rock/Blues/crossover genres-how I got started The Stones Jimi Janis Joplin Eric Clapton The Jeff Beck Group Dr. John Ray Charles Bonnie Raitt Straight Up Blues: :guitar: Jimmy Reed Robert Johnson BB King Elvin Bishop Muddy Waters Buddy Guy Howlin Wolf Taj Mahal Albert King Koko Taylor T-Bone Walker BoDiddly John Mayall Etta James John Lee Hooker Blind Lemon Blind Owl Bessie Smith Billie Holiday Any suggestions on anything I may not have heard by any of them, or other artists?
  20. ok, now I'm sorry(my god what am I saying ). That's 2 decent posts i've read by you tonight, and 1 was a very nice one directed at me. See I knew there was a teddy bear in there somewhere, you just don't let him out very often. Why don't you check SNL's archives for shows from this past year. I don't know who the host was, but they probably list the musical guests. Thanks Cyber.
  21. This is a small venue they are playing too. A club with a capacity of oh, maybe 850, and I think thats an exaggeration. I saw them way back in the day (like when they were in their heydey) and I so wanted to go now. The contest is going on all week, I may get those tickets yet. I'm pretty lucky with radio contests. ::
  22. Dave you can slap me like a redheaded stepchild. They wanted caller ten, my fingers got ahead of my mind. That's why I was sad - to miss it by one!!
  23. Ok Cyber, I give, uncle. I don't keep statistics on everthing I see and hear as you apparently do. I could research it and find out, but that would crush you're all-knowing ego. I guess the two of us that saw it on SNL were sharing the same dream.
  24. Cyber I won't say you are wrong, but you are only partially correct. If you say there was a performance of a P Diddy song by the twoon MTV, well ok. But they did perform portions of a Zepplin song(and it could very well have been Kashmir) SNL this past season. I didn't dream it!
