  1. Love Fade - Tamaryn Four years devoted to shoegaze.
  2. 25 :| ... not like I abide by the law or anything...
  3. Base Fluid - Nadja followed by....... Part 2 - Nadja and Troum Because last.fm would have me believe Nadja is the only ambient drone/doom group there is.
  4. I know I'm old because I can now legally drink in India
  5. I'm old enough to miss being 18-19 and spending all my time on SF playing Wheel of Fortune with Farin and The Seeker in our silly attempts to get our post counts up to unimaginable levels. And I miss our pointless conversations littered throughout this forum. Le sigh.
  6. Hmmm, so what would yuz suggest for the person on the other side of BA's situation? How to get someone obnoxious and condescending to back off, but not get too awkward about it since, you know, you're stuck with them in a normal situation anyway?
  7. I haven't read any of this because all I see is the standard "atheist" argument against Christianity, which leads me to believe all atheists come from Christianity. I quite like my religion. Never set foot in a temple, don't practice it, but that's exactly why I like it so much. It just wants me to be a good person and I see nothing wrong with that. I'm not religious but I like religions. There's a lot to learn from most of them. Sikhism and Zoroastrianism are my favourite, along with my own. Anyway, having lived in a country with 7 different religions, and in another with just 1, I can say with some certainty that the country with just 1 has little idea what religion is. Most 'atheist' arguments are v. narrow minded and consider only the Abrahamic, monotheistic religions where 'god' is made in man's own image or whatever. Haven't yet seen an argument that applies to the ones I live with.
  8. Good work - this is MUCH more like it
  9. O gawd I just went a few pages back and there are THREE pictures of me in here that I have no recollection of posting. I thought you lot would have filled up this thread with your own mugs by now but nooooooooo us young'ns gots to do all the work!
  10. Zomg you're right, it was my fake anniversary just now! Thanks Rayzor Also thanks Lucky! I'm not a finished product yet, though - there'll be more
  11. Zoë Machete Control - [The] Slowest Runner [in All The World] A track so beautiful off an album so stunning, even the name of the band doesn't seem pretentious.
  12. Souvenirs d'un autre monde - Alcest (best album)
  13. The incredible Echodrone want me to write about them!
  14. Heh - I posted it because I was thinking of how you've seen me when I was about 18-19, and maybe once in the middle? And now I'm 25. Seven years on Songfacts
  15. Y'allz haven't seen me in a while have you? I'm going through some pics of my time in AU and I found this one of me all snugged up before heading out. I look a bit more unpleasant than that right now. 45 degrees C will do that to you I don't look like that all the time, but then why would I show you what I REALLY look like? NB: I do however make funny faces almost all the time
  16. Just play as the three of you, when I saw Mono their support was a man, a violin and assorted pedals. Fiddler with a loop.
  17. NOOOOOOOOOOO YOU TURNED IT DOWN NOOOOOOOOO I dig Scritti Politti
  18. Your answer is in the question. India's not exactly homogeneous in terms of geography or culture. In the south, sure, there are only a few places it ever goes above 35-38c (coastal, near equator). The plateau region probably gets hotter. In the central, north-central where there are plains (me) we get 2-3 months of steady 40+ degree dry heat before the monsoon shows up. It's just hit Bombay and we had our premonsoon showers a couple of weeks ago, so it should be on its way. In the north, with the mountains, of course, it's mostly quite cool. The hottest it'll get is slightly over 30 (hello, Himalayas) Similarly in the north-east, it's usually cool and damp and prone to floods. There's a town that floods without fail every year because it's surrounded by mountains on all sides. Thar be tea here. But the broadest belt stays at this incessant 40-45 temperature every year. We put up with it because it's also mango season (I had 6 today )
  19. It's been a steady 41-45 degrees C here for the past month and a half (that's 105-113 Fahrenheit for you Americans). Hot breeze, and no sign of the monsoon yet.
  20. For ADDED CREDIBILITY, get off MySpace, and get on Bandcamp.
  21. Nothing against gay marriage (though in my part of the issue is still gay-acceptance) but I'm always surprised when developed nations concentrate on it so much and rarely speak of things like drug problems, domestic violence, homelessness, and racial conflict etc. which (to me) are matters of life and death that will affect future generations etc. Gay marriage, yes, sure, but if this was my job, it wouldn't be tops on my to-do list. I'll understand better if you can explain to me how it might kill people - any people - to not be able to get married. Seems to me a luxurious political issue - one you turn to when all the ones that could potentially kill people have been sorted. See, like the drama around universal healthcare (is that what you call it?) I understand - life and death.
