  2. I guess when you reach my age (and have daughters bringing home their 'steadies') you can identify with tear jerkers like : 1. Sunrise, Sunset 2. Far From the Home I Love. both from "Fiddler On The Roof"
  3. Technical mumbo jumbo apart, we must move with the times. CDs are a clear winner over Vinyls. With the advent of the MP3 format, the portable hard drive is gaining an edge over the discman. For most parties here in the Middle East, a PC is an integral part of the DJ's Sound Equipment. Having said that I still miss looking at the Album/CD cover pictures of the artist and the song details while listening to good music.
  4. Nominations from a brand new Gold Fish : 1. When You're Short of a Quid - Slim Dusty 2. Love is Strange - Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton. I think as usual I wont get much votes
  5. Hi Edna, Thanks for the info on John Lennon's Isolation. Will try to get a copy and have a listen. Just this morning I was listening to Needles & Pins; you have my vote on this nomination. Need to strike it off my prospective listing. Cheers! Judo.
  6. Don't think I ever heard that (Isolation) one !
  7. OleFif, I've got fifties on my mind all the time. 50's just don't make it to the top ten. Of late I am trying to nominate one old and the other as new and as likeable as possible. Even, if they dont make it to the top ten I will continue to nominate/re-nominate oldies. No point in nominating something I don't appreciate / have not heard yet.

  15. 20-Song CD I have participated in just 5 Top Tens till date. Accordingly, I would have made a 10-song CD. However, since our dear Edna had beaten me to nominating Otis's (Sitting on) the Dock of the Bay, Ron, may I please add it and make mine an 11-song CD? I'd like to list my songs in order of preference but that's really hard - (The list above just happens to be in alphabetical order). Let's just say mine would be a random-order-play CD, especially since I have one song/title twice on the CD. Here goes: And I Love Her - The Beatles Don't Forbid Me - Pat Boone I Have A Dream - ABBA If I Said You Had A Beautiful Body - Bellamy Brothers More Than I Can Say - Bobby Vee More Than I Can Say - Leo Sayer Oh Carol - Neil Sedaka Reflections Of My Life - Marmalade Room At The Top Of The Stairs - Eddie Rabbit Simply The Best - Tina Turner (Sitting On) The Dock Of The Bay - Otis Redding
  16. My two nominations for TT No.11 are: 1. And I Love Her - The Beatles 2. Don't Forbid Me - Pat Boone
  17. Thanks Farin, especially for the web link. After watching the video, they sure DO REMIND me of the Beatles. Thanks Edna, that was very informative. As always thanks are also in order to OLD55 and the Big Chief.
  18. Mighty Quinn (Quinn The Eskimo) ~ Manfred Mann Farin, did the Beatles cover this song? or does the original version remind you of the Beatles. I don't have this in my collection, just a memory of radio listenings in my younger days. Judo.
  19. As much as I liked Achy Breaky Heart, I soon got tired of it. Does Billy Ray Cyrus have any other hits ? Simply the Best still has lasting appeal, besides as an artist Tina Turner is liked by most if not all. Another reason for this nomination was trying to get a later decade into the top ten. I think I will stick to my first love, 50's, 60's
  20. How about Merle Haggard's Swinging Doors
  21. My votes for Top Ten # 10 are : 1. Bridge Over Troubled Waters - Simon & Garfunkel 2. (Sittin'On) The Dock Of The Bay - Otis Redding 3. Oh Carol - Neil Sedaka 4. Gentle On My Mind - Glen Campbell 5. Let It Be Me - The Everly Brothers 6. Can't Smile Without You - Barry Manilow 7. Suspicious Minds - Elvis Presley 8. Love Story - Andy Williams 9. Hit The Road Jack - Ray Charles 10. Simply The Best - Tina Turner
