  1. So I was at the store yesterday standing by the fake plastic trees with my ear next to them. But they weren't saying anything. They just sat there with no look or emotion to them whatsoever. When someone finally asked if I needed help, I simply replied... "Ssssshhhhhhhh, I'm trying to listen to the fake plastic trees." Needless to say he grabbed my arm and escorted me out of there... If I get the urge to listen to Radiohead, I'll try to sample them at one of the used music stores. What album should I be looking for?
  2. Yay me! Do you have any with Lynyrd Skynyrd on them?
  3. A: I have no idea what they have in common other than being relatively short and Massachusettes is spelled wrong. B: Is David Bowie Welsh? If so, that's my guess for the singer, but not a clue on what song it is.
  4. Oh wait, I think I finally got the riddle. Billy and Dusty have the beards and Frank's last name is Beard.
  5. Whoa, you got me thinking on this one. First I thought, Pointer Sisters, but the way you phrased the question, you make it sound as though they're not related. Then I thought ZZ Top, but they don't have anything in common as far as names are concerned. And then I ran out of US Trios that were around in the 70's and the 80's.
  6. So what's the next question? I want to be able to guess at least one more time before I go to bed and then can't check again until I get to work.
  7. Lynyrd Skynyrd of the 70's is my favorite Southern Rock gathering and in 1975 they put together the absolute best team of rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd ever saw. Ronnie Van Zant Allen Collins Gary Rossington Steve Gaines Leon Wilkeson Billy Powell Artimus Pyle It just doesn't get any better than that. The lyrics they wrote and the styles they created were way more than anyone attempts in modern age. They took the wonders of Blues Rock and turned it into so many different things that were soon defined as the wonders of Southern Rock. The 70's allowed so many groups to do so many creative things that music has never been better since. Skynyrd is just an example...
  8. I'm not really big into compilation albums. They usually lack a high number of the really good songs and stick to more of the popular songs.
  9. I had so many problems getting onto the boards yesterday that I just gave up. And look how many questions I missed? Well, here's my guess for this one. "Nobody Does It Better" - Carly Simon
  10. Oddly enough, Cream is supposedly the originating group for Southern Rock. They are basically attributed as the major influences for The Allman Brothers Band and Lynyrd Skynyrd. I don't plan on getting into it THAT much, but the music is something I cannot deny. Everything you wrote concerning The Outlaws and Marshall Tucker Band help out a TON. Now I know what to add to my Wish List. I do like the Molly Hatchet album and I may look into getting some of their other albums as well. This is the type of information I was looking for! Keep it coming...
  11. Kung Pow: Enter The Fist Rush Hour 1 & 2 Monty Python & The Holy Grail
  12. I like new and old. And I heard Radiohead is pretty good. Haven't checked them out yet myself, but apparently they come recommended.
  13. I would love to go to that concert. When is it? And the chicks.......... oh yeah. Gov't Mule is also on my recommendations list. FideltyFiend had mentioned them and I'm waiting for his detailed explanation. As for the website, I have the Lynyrd Skynyrd book they have shown near the top. I'll have to check out some of those band links. I already have 70 hours of music loaded on my PC here at work and listen to it all day while I'm... uh... working, yeah that's it. For Southern Rock & "Dirty" Country Rock I have 7 Skynyrd Albums loaded, Molly Hatchet, Charlie Daniels Band, Buffalo Springfield, Chain Lightning, The Allman Brothers Band, and CCR.
  14. Yeah but, Shakira is HOT. Holy crap! She makes me sweat...
  15. Oh my God, Donny Osmond, he's sooooooooooooo dreamy. I'm going to run out and buy all of his albums right after I have my ears set on fire and I can't hear anymore!
  16. Yeah, 10 isn't really enough. It was hard enough finding the best 10 to think of.
  17. So tell me more about these groups as some of them are on my recommendations list. I have a Buffalo Springfield album, but most of it is too folk rockish for my tastes (by the way, haven't seen you around much Daniel). i have, and it gives a decent list, but doesn't say enough about the bands for me to really decide. I love the Eagles, but I'm really looking for more of that dirty country rock sound like Charlie Daniels. Alabama is a good suggestion, they're also on my recommendations list. Thanks everyone! Keep it coming. I picked up Molly Hatchet "Greatest Hits" yesterday and it totally rocks!!
  18. I'm going to WAG this one... Roger Daltrey on Pete Townshend
  19. All right everyone, I have come to the realization that Southern Rock is my favorite style in the genre that is rock 'n' roll. But the problem is I don't know everyone that falls under this category. I want to "branch" out and hear more Southern Rock groups, but I also want opinions from others on whether or not it's worth buying their CD. So here's who I know of so far that is Southern Rock, but I still need general opinion if buying their CD is truly worth it. - Lynyrd Skynyrd (obviously, but I don't need opinions on whether I should buy their CD's or not, because I already have) - .38 Special - Molly Hatchet - The Allman Brothers Band (picked up a greatest hits and I like it) - Little Feat - The Marshall Tucker Band - The Outlaws - Blackfoot - ZZ Top I'd also like to include the Country/Southern Rock groups as well. But so far the only one I know of is... - Charlie Daniels Band (have a greatest hits, what other albums are suggested) So correct me if I'm wrong on any of these, but I'd really like to know who else I should consider and if buying the CD's of the listed bands is worth it.
  20. Do I get any points for thinking about participating but didn't because jr was so quick to give the answer?
  21. Those are the stupidest lyrics I've ever seen. My 7-year old could write better lyrics than that!
  22. 10 most upsetting moments in music history. - Lynyrd Skynyrd plane crash - The Beatles disbanding - Roger Waters leaving Pink Floyd - John Lennon getting shot - Jimi Hendrix dying - Jim Morrison dying - Keith Richards disagreeing with Mick Jagger on the future of their music causing the band to temporarily part - Michael Jackson being arrested (twice) - Kurt Cobain dying - Ashlee Simpson's SNL performance
  23. Well it is only 3:30 a.m. in Queensland, Australia right now... So I wouldn't expect anything too soon.
