Is anyone else hooked on this show?

I remember telling my girlfriend after the second show of the first season if James Spader did not get a Best Actor Emmy for his role as Alan Shore it would be an injustice. Sure enough, he got the Emmy! I really believe he is currently the best actor on TV.

Joe, I have noticed the writers on the show are liberal and do take shots at the current administration. They have taken on causes that seem to be of popular opinion these days.

The character of Alan Shore is very complex yet very understandable. He is compassionate and fully concerned about the rights of others as if the causes were his own. His arguments are always brilliant and timely when in the courtroom.

Shatner is brilliant, simply brilliant. This morning while watching the taped episode from last evening, I was thinking how we have watched him age gracefully on TV over the last 40 years. I find his previous roles campy compared to his performance on Boston Legal. Whether it is his single word diatribes with others, his excuse for eccentricity being mad cow desease, or his amusing moments in the courtroom you see his real being when closing the show with Spader every week. It is no wonder they both won Emmys their first season for their respective roles.

Candice Bergen is another who you can say has aged gracefully in her years on TV. While I will say Murphy Brown is her landmark role on TV, she does a wonderful job on the show. Rene Auberjois's character is a strong figure on the show as well. The supporting cast rounds out the show very well.

The levity and continuing story lines keep me hooked. I don't think the time spot the show is in helps it perhaps making it a very underrated show.

Best line on last night's show (2/28) - At Denny's wedding reception he is caught frolicking under coats in the coat room with a waitress, the cast including his new wife are watching when he peeks from under the coats and looking right at them asks, "Is it time to cut the cake?".
