He was kind enought to talk to us about his songs, and we have his Songfacts online. There are some real interesting stories here. I gained a new respect for Sylvester Stallone after Jim talked about how the guy managed to tap into the youth market with Rocky 3. The first 2 Rocky movies were excellent and had one of the most successful movie themes ever ("Gonna Fly Now"). For the third movie, Stallone added a lot of flash and juiced up the script with Mr. T and some very memorable dialogue ("I pity the fool!"). Eye Of The Tiger was the perfect song for that movie. I love the story behind Vehicle because it has a happy ending. It seems like whenever a guy writes a truly beautiful song about a girl (think Billy Joel's "Just The Way You Are"), the relationship burns like the last time I tried to cook at Thanksgiving.
