Otokichi
I was searching for "My Way," a Korean film about a Korean in Manchuria, who was drafted into the Japanese army, captured and drafted into the Russian army, then captured again and drafted into the German army, to face the June 6, 1944 Normandy invasion. One can get an idea from the trailers about how awful things were, but there's a fee to see the movie on YouTune. Then I came across this Chinese World War II film about a Chinese peasant, a Russian female soldier, and a Japanese schoolgirl, trying to avoid the murderous Japanese Kwantung army. It's an interesting tale of mistrust, shared peril, and grudging friendship played out in a forest decked out in Autumn yellow. Warning! Not For Kids or easily upset Adults.
