If you were just stating that as a bit of trivia, then yes, that is so. That song was their first single released in the U.S.

If you were stating it as to why it wasn't accepted as a correct answer, it is because the question didn't specify "in the U.S."

In this case, "first single" would be a band's very first single released, no matter what country it was released in, eliminating The Rolling Stones as a correct answer.
