musicalcure
Got to be one of my all-time forever favorite songs--never fails to lift me and amaze--and the instrumentals!! Gorgeous! Lake Shore Drive-Aliotta, Haynes & Jeremiah nothin like blasting this on the car radio, with all the windows open, singing it, and pounding the beat on the steering wheel...while on LakeShoreDrive, of course! Ohhh...here's another that will just WARM you right up, I gar-on-teee! Enjoy. It's HOT! I've seen it in concert, too....ohh baby! She's got some serious chops. c_s_1987
There are quite a few I haven't got to listen to yet. I'm at work right now. Can anyone think of a good one from the last 20 years? Or was there one already posted and I missed it?

c_s_1987
Also, note that the main reason why I said not progressive is because I already know too much about that genre.

I firmly understand, sir. Hopefully, this next song will introduce your eager desire for outstanding instrumentation . . . This next song comes to mind from the last twenty years, giving a fine example of outstanding instrumentation, IMHO . . . greendaddy43
I know I keep bringing up John Fruscante but his new song Unreachable has an amazing instrumental that winds up being almost the entire last three minuts of the song.
Carl
C_S, you might like our interview with Jay Graydon: http://www.songfacts.com/int/2008/10/jay-graydon.html He's a producer/guitarist that is meticulous when it comes to instrumentation, and I think he did a great job putting into words how you can get a song to sound just flawless (make the singer do it until he gets it right!). Some good examples of his stuff: Kafka by Manhattan Transfer (click the Grooveshark widget to hear it) Peg by Steely Dan (he played the guitar solo) Many songs like this make their way to Easy Listening radio because they're so easy to listen to. MuzikTyme
I have NO idea what this thread is about any more. Songs where we like the music, is that it? ;-) "Songs where we like the music." I couldn't have said it better myself, LeeBB. Nothing quite like great songs, I always say, and this thread has many in it! Fantastic job, everyone. Many songs like this make their way to Easy Listening radio because they're so easy to listen to. I must say, the above statement was what I consider very easy listening, too! ~ Be well P.S. Almost forgot, this next instrumental offers some great instrumentation!
musicalcure
The guitar and violins are beautiful in this one, although it's not as clear on the video. Such a beautiful and brilliant song... The Weight of My Words - Kings of Convenience Could also be considered "easy listening". Very very easy.
