trafficjam
Looking for the meaning of this song. I think it was written by Randy California?
Lucky
Hey trafficjam, welcome to SF! I've always loved that song, and never have had a clue about it, and knew little but general stuff about the band. But, allmusic says: One of Spirit's best-known songs, "Nature's Way" provided the band with their last Top 40 hit single. Inspired by a conversation that writer Randy California had with a San Francisco musician, it takes aim at the fact that Northern California was certainly not immune to ecological nightmares. The song is driven by a positively gorgeous folk-jazz melody; its bittersweet beauty is easily apparent upon first listen. allmusic Here's the link. It has tons of info I didn't know about the band & it's members though. Like how California got his name, among other things. And yeah, Randy California wrote it. Foolonthehill
slightly off-topic, but I have to say that the album it's on- Twelve Dreams Of Dr. Sardonicus- is great. I've never actually heard anyone else mention it, but I think it's an album that a lot of people could enjoy.
musicalcure
I think the environmental message is pretty clear, esp since the song is from the 70's. I always liked the way it personalizes to get you to imagine the trees, etc are talking to YOU, yet it's a beautiful song, too. I've listened to it so much, it's developed an even more personal meaning for me, as if life, or your own intuition is trying to tell you you are on the wrong path. I adore this album, one I had on vinyl and had search hard to replace in mp3. It's nature's way of telling you something's wrong It's nature's way of telling you in a song It's nature's way of receiving you It's nature's way of retrieving you It's nature's way of telling you Something's wrong It's nature's way of telling you, summer breeze It's nature's way of telling you, dying trees It's nature's way of receiving you It's nature's way of retrieving you It's nature's way of telling you Something's wrong It's nature's way, it's nature's way It's nature's way, it's nature's way It's nature's way of telling you Something's wrong It's nature's way of telling you In a song, oh-h It's nature's way of receiving you It's nature's way It's nature's way of retrieving you It's nature's way It's nature's way of telling you Something's wrong, something's wrong, something's wrong. Island Jane
The answer is "DEATH." Death is nature's way of telling you to slow down. Back in those days, lots of us were living too fast, and this was just a reminder.
