  1. Na Na Na Lyrics

    Na na na na

When I was a kid my old man said to me

When you grow up son what cha gonna be?

You gonna go to school and get a degree?

Or you gonna go to work in a factory?

    I said

    Na na na na

I know what I want and I know what I can

And I wanna get a job in a rock'n roll band.

    Well

the man at the desk said

    I know how you feel.

But how d'ya like a job fixing automobiles

Your card says you got no musical training

    I said hey

    look man

you just don't get my meaning.

I don't wanna be no guitar star

And the man on the piano works too damn hard.

And the bass man he don't cop for no glamour

I wanna be the man with the fifty pound hammer going.

    Na na na na

I know you get your kicks

    Playing Hendrix licks

You're a wizard of Wembley Central

You're the J. S. Bach of Belsize park

And me I'm just plain mental.

But when I play my boogie

    when I play my blues

It's like a whole tank regiment on the move

You can play the notes and you can tell the story

Me I'll just settle for the power and the qlory.

    Na na na na

  2. I remember one that mocks Pink Floyd's The Wall.

It was in two parts (just as on the album)

"just another kick in the b*lls"

and the same called kick in..........part two.

The lyrics are way to rough for air play, and I wont post here either.

look around ya may find it out there somewhere. I didnt bother.. (sorry)

PS. oh and by the way, "The Ruttles" ( a monty python gig) did a parody of several Beatles albums back in the 60's. Let it Be was called "Let It Rot", Abbey Road = "Shabby Road", Sgt peppers = "Sgt Peppers only darts club band"

there may have been more, but I forget.

Edit: just found alittle something on wicky about them, check it out.............

and this may even be funnier..........

  3. how bout maybe "The Rose" (written by Willie Nelson). Bette Midler performed this best (imo)..

Some say love, it is a river

    that drowns the tender reed.

Some say love, it is a razor

that leaves your soul to bleed.

Some say love, it is a hunger

    and endless aching need.

I say love, it is a flower

    and you its only seed.

Its the heart afraid of breaking,

    that never learns to dance.

Its the dream afraid of wakeing,

    that never takes the chance.

Its the one who wont be taken,

    who cannot seem to give.

And the soul afraid of dying,

    that never learns to live.

When the night has been to lonely,

and the road has been too long.

And you think that love is only,

for the lucky and the strong.

    Just remember in the winter,

    far beneath the bitter snows.

Lies the seed that with the suns love,

in the spring becomes the rose.

  4. I seem to recall Steve Howe being voted "best all around guitarist 6 years straight back in the 70's.

But I cant say he's my all time favorite. as I like many different guitarist, along with styles, and ect.

A subject such as this is just a matter of personal preference. Its not a subject that will produce a deffinitive answer.

Most of the guitarists mentioned I have heard, but I cant put any one in front of the other as they'r styles ect differ alot.

In expl: Rod Richards, (original guitarist for Rare Earth) maybe no ones favorite. But an insperation to me. He among many others.

    Just alittle food for thought!

    Jim

PS: If anyone has an interest in Rare Earth, I have a link to a forum where most of the band members (past and present) hang out, and like to converse with anyone.. But no BS. be cool. They'r great guys who take the time to answer questions and offer lost recordings of live shows.

  5. Uncle Joe,

just saw that post about the drivers test from awhile back... took the Pa test and only blew one answer. thats because they changed the rules. when I took the test, you had to park 6 " from the curb, now its 12".

  6. Having been at Woodstock, I remember hearing "goin Home" (really couldnt see the stage from where we were). But I thought "wow" as did the others around us. we all shut up and listened. at the end of the set I heard someone say "wow, that blows Hendrix away", and someone said "man, you gonna stay for Hendrix?" I heard somebody else yell "not after that". as it turned out by the time Hendrix took the stage probably 1/2 to 2/3 of the people had split. There were still alot of people there, but nothing like saturday.. I dont remember a whole lot from then, but I do remember that..

  7. Seeker,

Having grown up in the 60's, I was subjected to many different bands and music styles. Throughout the 60's and 70's I was influenced in so many different ways by so many different bands it would be impossible for me to name any single one of them as "the band that did it for me".

There are times when I am in situations that just remind me of a band/song that I heard from being inna simular situation before. And then there are times when no music comes to mind in certain situations. So I just cant to seem to answer to that question....

  8. Edna, and all.

I believe I remember George Martin describing "Abbey Road" as follows. ( This is from memory, and a long time ago so if I'm wrong please speak up) Martin described the connected side as being recorded that way mainly to suit Paul. The other side was contributions from the other 3 individually.
