  1. I wanna change my nomination this time and nominate one of my favs, an obscure single; Kites by Simon Dupree and The Big Sound. I just found a live video on YouTube.com. The studio version has a spoken part in chinese, spoken by a girl. Not on this video but it's good anyway: Watch it here! So my nominations are: Kites - Simon Dupree and The Big Sound Lady Eleanor - Lindisfarna
  2. I've extracted the previous 19 lists from the archive into an excel spread sheet which you can download here For the first 6 lists there were no points given for the songs, just the placements. Old55 and Farin, if you have them available you can email them to me: lzell_2000@yahoo.com
  3. I'm glad you nominated The 4 Seasons, Darryl. I've been a fan of theirs since Stay was released. Here's my nominations: When You Walk In The Room - Jackie de Shannon Lady Eleanor - Lindisfarne (If you haven't heard this one, try and find it, it's really wonderful, and so is much of Lindisfarne's music.)
  4. This time 5 of the 10 I voted for including one of my nominations made it into the top 10. Pinball Wizard didn't make it but should have IMO. One of the Who's best. I Can See For Miles is better, but I don't think it's been nominated before, or has it?

  7. Darryl, Cliff and the Shadows visited our little town (20000 souls or less) in summer 1963 and I was there. They were absolutely great and I saved the ticket for years and years!
  8. Glad All Over brings back memories from school dances when I was 15 or so. Every local band seemed to have that song on their repertoire. And a lot of Shadows songs of course!
  9. Somebody To Love is one of my favs, Darryl! Here's my nominations: Daniel - Elton John A very moving song Soldier Blue - Buffy St Marie
  10. Others I like are: Jeff's Boogie from the Yardbird's Over, Under, Sideways, Down album Saber Dance by Love Sculpture Repent Walpurgis by Procol Harum
  11. Wonder why noone has mentioned the most beautiful instrumental of them all, The Supernatural by John Mayall and The Bluesbreakers. Peter Green plays divinely. It's on their A Hard Road album.

  19. Traffic's Hole In My Shoe has a spoken part done by a young girl. I looked in the sky where an elephant's eye Was looking at me from a bubblegum tree And all that I knew was the hole in my shoe Which was letting in water (letting in water) (letting in water) I walked through a field that just wasn't real With one hundred tin soldiers which stood at my shoulder And all that I knew was the hole in my shoe Which was letting in water (letting in water) (letting in water) (Spoken: I climbed on the back of a giant albatross That flew through a crack in the cloud To a place where happiness reigned all year round And music played ever so loudly) I started to fall and suddenly woke And the dew on the grass had soaked through my coat And all that I knew was the hole in my shoe Which was letting in water (letting in water) (letting in water)
  20. David Watts - Kinks Fa fa fa faa faa faa faa faa, love it!! Paper Sun - Traffic I also liked this single's B side, Giving To You.
  21. NEW YORK – Already the toast of both coasts, “Jersey Boys†took home the big one June 11, the best musical Tony Award, Broadway's highest theater honor. The thrilling, bighearted show, which set box office records when it opened at La Jolla Playhouse under Des McAnuff's direction in October 2004, won three other awards. John Lloyd Young snagged the leading actor in a musical Tony for his deeply felt portrayal of Frankie Valli, the jazz crooner whose growth to pop star and solo artist, centers the show, and San Diego Junior Theatre veteran Christian Hoff took home the featured actor in a musical trophy for his strutting, guitar-slinging portrayal of Tommy DeVito, the bad boy whose gambling debts nearly sank The Four Seasons. “Jersey Boys†producer Michael David, of Dodger Theatricals, spoke to the “Jersey†mob onstage at Radio City Music Hall, thanking McAnuff for his “brilliant direction†and Valli and the other Seasons “for being fool enough or brave enough to let us try to tell their story.†McAnuff said recognition to rock on stage “has been late in coming. Rock 'n' roll has been around since the 1950s,†he said upon learning that his was the first best musical Tony awarded to a real rock 'n' roll musical. “I'm extremely appreciative to the Tony voters, for we were tainted at first with the jukebox label. We see this as a history play.†Jersey Boys official site
