I'm an active member on 4 different message boards. This one (for my music discussion), Pearl Drummer's Forum (for drum discussion), New York Sports Day Forums (for NY sports discussion), and GameFAQS message boards (for video game and sports dicussions).
It's really amazing. I can't imagine how much more life would suck if I had only my peers to talk to about music. Most of the kids in my school think that Led Zeppelin was a single person that was alive in the 40s and wrote some song about a staircase.

No. Green Day are a bunch of ageing punk-rockers. Their musical heritage demands that they write the odd song about how sh!t governments are, criticise foreign policy, etc.
What they do, they do pretty well.
You just don't happen to like them.
It would have more of an impact if they sounded like intelligent people whose opinions mean something. I'm mostly a liberal, but who is impressed by some jackass singing about the "redneck agenda" and yada yada yada. His political analysis is at best sophmoric and at worst, silly.

I actually stopped listening to music for about 6 months becuase of this. I personally can't stand drug /alcohol abusers and I didn't know how I could listen to most of my favorite bands without being a huge hypocrite.
I went back to music, but I still think about it.

How this be called this a comprehensive list of the best songs of all time. There are scores of egregious omissions on the list posted above.......I do not know where to begin.
Nobody called it that. It's a gimmick list done by a radio station.
