  1. Great catch on the lyrics - that's actually what I just figured out by listening to my copy of the album (it's a pretty bad tape copy) a few more times. I wish I had the full lyrics!! There are some pretty good songs on the album besides GIGNFY - "Everyday I have to Cry Some" is really good, and of course I have to like the cover of B.J. Thomas's "I just Can't Help Believing" (as my dad sings lead on that one). Best news: I think I've got the real thing on it's way! I found the LP online, on a site called GEMM.com, which pulls together listings from a lot of LP and 45" sites, and offers them in one place. I purchased it, and I'm crossing my fingers that it is the real deal and is in good enough shape to play. GEMM also has TONS of Mardi Gras singles, some at pretty reasonable prices...(just in case anyone is interested! )
  2. Edna, great to "meet" you as well! I'm just a regular ol' music fan...but I'm glad to find others like me!
  3. I think this is close to the lyrics - I've actually never seen them written down... Mardi Gras - Girl, I've got news for you It's not fair, I need your light(?) You don't care, you don't even try You said that there's another guy Laughing at me It's not fair, I've been true I don't care what you do If you should find somebody new I'll set you free Oh, yeah... Girl I've got news for you I'll take no abuse from you Someday you'll find some guy, He won't care if you live or die, yeah.. Girl, I've got news for you I'll take no abuse from you Someday you'll find some guy, He won't care if you live or die, yeah.. La, la, la, la, la, la It's not fair I've been true I don't care what you do If you should find somebody new I'll set you free Girl, I've got news for you I'll take no abuse from you Someday you'll find some guy, He won't care if you live or die, yeah.. (Close, I hope!)
  4. Interestingly, I just picked up a Spanish copy of the single! I haven't seen the LP anywhere, though I have a copy of a copy on tape. I think I'm going to see if I can get hold of the singer/drummer or the guitar player to ask if they have an extra copy (I haven't spoken to either of them for a while). My father was the keyboardist/backup vocalist and sang lead on one of the album tracks. He passed away long ago ('83), and somehow any albums he had were lost...though I do have his keyboard and some other of his musical items.
  5. My pleasure - good to know someone still remembers that song!! (BTW - they also did a cover of "Too Busy Thinking 'Bout My Baby" that did well in Europe...)
  6. Hi, all, This thread may be long-dead, so I don't know if anyone will get it. My dad was in The Mardi Gras - that is one of their singles, of course... The song is long out of print, though you can usually find 45rpm 7" singles on eBay and elsewhere on the net - usually in Europe. I'm actually looking for the album, which seems to be impossible to find. ::
