Regardless, Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlin are still the core of the band's lineup and have posted a message on their Web site, which simply says, "The Smashing Pumpkins are currently in the recording studio with legendary producer Roy Thomas Baker (Queen, The Cars, The Darkness), at work on their first new album since 1999." The news that they've 'come out of retirement and/or are putting out a new album instantly ups ticket prices and album sales . As well , I think most artists find that they're no bloody good at anything else , so they return to the spotlight to keep their sanity . Picture this : 1. " Hurry up and putt ,Corgan , and quit thinking about what it 'means' for the ball to be battered into a hole ! There are others waiting ...! " 2 .
