I think that's A Time For Us from Franco Zeffirelli's 1968 film starring Olivia Hussey and Leonard Whiting.

A time for us, some day there'll be

When chains are torn by courage born of a love that's free

A time when dreams so long denied can flourish

As we unveil the love we now must hide

A time for us, at last to see

A life worthwhile for you and me

And with our love, through tears and thorns

We will endure as we pass surely through every storm

A time for us, some day there'll be a new world

A world of shining hope for you and me

For you and me

And with our love, through tears and thorns

We will endure as we pass surely through every storm

A time for us, some day there'll be a new world

A world of shining hope for you and me

A world of shining hope for you and me

~ Words by Larry Kusik and Eddie Snyder. Music by Nino Rota

I agree with this interpretation of it. There was another version of the movie in 1954, but the soundtrack from it was very weak and I don't think had a song that stood out. The 1968 version with Leonard Whiting and Olivia Hussey was more well known, and the song "A Time for Us" was a very recognized song in the day.

There is also the remarkably similar Somewhere from the musical West Side Story (1957/ film 1961).

There's a place for us,

Somewhere a place for us.

Peace and quiet and open air

Wait for us

Somewhere.

There's a time for us,

Some day a time for us,

Time together with time spare,

Time to learn, time to care,

Some day!

Somewhere.

We'll find a new way of living,

We'll find a way of forgiving

Somewhere . . .

There's a place for us,

A time and place for us.

Hold my hand and we're halfway there.

Hold my hand and I'll take you there

Somehow,

Some day,

Somewhere!

~Music by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim
