1. What is the best-selling 4-person group in the U.S. consisting of two men and two women?

ABBA (The RIAA reports U.S. album sales of 10.5 million units)

(They just slightly beat the group Ace Of Base who had a total of 10.0 million units in U.S. sales)

2. In the '90s, what group replaced their lead singer with the guy he replaced 11 years earlier?

Van Halen

Sammy Hagar replaced original lead singer, David Lee Roth in 1985. Hagar left in June 1996, replaced briefly by David Lee Roth before being replaced again by Gary Cherone in the fall of 1996.

3. What famous still-active Rock band is named after a #1 hit song from the '50s?

The Pretenders - They're named after the 1955 song, "The Great Pretender" by The Platters.

4. What California band had a U.S. Top-Ten Hot 100 hit song in 2001 and again in 2009?

Linkin Park - from Los Angeles, California with "In The End" (#2 in 2001) and "New Divide" (#6 in 2009)

5. What famous song from the '70s tells the story about a ship that sunk?

"The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald" by Gordon Lightfoot.

A hit song that peaked at #2 in 1976, it tells the true story of an ore vessel, named after a Milwaukee civic leader, that sank in Lake Superior on 11/10/75.

6. On what Motown hit did two pro football players sing backup?

"What's Going On" by Marvin Gaye. Two members of the Detroit Lions sang on it.

7. What famous singer has a middle name that is the same as a Roman mythological hero?

Elton John: his middle name is Hercules (Elton Hercules John).

Little Eva: her middle name is Narcissus (Eva Narcissus Boyd).

8. What hit song by a female singer was written by Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits?

"Private Dancer" by Tina Turner.

9. What hit from the '80s featured a purple cow in the video?

"Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)" by Eurythmics.

A #1 hit in 1983, the 4:52 video has two segments (only one in the 3:35 time-edited version) where they change black and white still shots into purple ones, including one of the many cows in the video.

10. What famous band released their first album 38 years after they formed?

Mudcrutch

Formed in 1970, they disbanded in 1975 and regrouped in 2008, finally releasing a self-titled album 38 years later.

#7 Motown's Little Eva's (do the locomotion) given middle name was Narcissus.

#5 Dance Band on the Titanic, while not a huge hit, was a song and also the name of the album released by Harry Chapin in 1977.

While not a huge hit, it wasn't a minor hit either. Although it does tell about the ship sinking, it is not well-known enough to be a famous song.

Most times we ask for a famous, well-known or hit song to reach a wider audience and also narrow the choices but sometimes we don't and that's when it becomes more of a challenge and obscure songs count.

A couple of entrants also guessed My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion and The Morning After by Maureen McGovern but neither song says anything about the ship sinking.
