sutho Posted August 7, 2004 Report Posted August 7, 2004 i am trying to find out up to date info on Drummer Jim Gordon who wrote layla with Clapton is he still in Hospital or has he been released?
_Annabelle_ Posted August 8, 2004 Report Posted August 8, 2004 As far as I have read, Jim Gordon is still serving a sentence of 16 years - life imprisonment, at least, as of 2003.
sutho Posted August 8, 2004 Author Report Posted August 8, 2004 annabelle could you let me know which source you found this info in
_Annabelle_ Posted August 8, 2004 Report Posted August 8, 2004 Sure, I read it at Allmusic.com (AMG) under his biography.
Carl Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 I did some research on this as part of our interview with fellow Domino Bobby Whitlock. It seems Jim Gordon is still in prison, although according to the terms of his sentence, he is eligible for parole.
lotsahits Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 Didn't Jim kill his mother? Is he the only person to win a Grammy (for the cha-cha version of Layla as record of the year) while behind bars?
sutho Posted August 11, 2004 Author Report Posted August 11, 2004 Ive just found out That Jim Gordon Played Drums on 80 Yes Eighty Albums from 1966-1977 thats 80 albums in 11 years , thats 7.27 albums a year , But since 1983 he has never been able to play is Drums again, Because he Killed his Mum
MuzikTyme Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 Even though Gordon is still mentally ill, he's content to remain in his hospital/prison as he turned down his last parole hearing. One day, he looks forward to retiring to a home overlooking the mountains. Let's hope that if he gets his wish, that he'll never see a demon again.
lzr Posted September 20, 2004 Report Posted September 20, 2004 After checking some of his online discographies, Gordon's recording history for that period is closer 380!
