  1. I know it may be a bit of an odd request...but, if it's going to be answered...it's going to be answered here!

Anybody know any songs that specifically mention Mangoes?

(preferrably ones that may still be obtainable in the 21st century...not ones your mother sang to you on her knee).

    Pretty please. :)

  2. Grace Slick: lead singer

    Mick Taylor: lead guitar

    Mick Ronson: lead Guitar

    Keith Richards: rhythm guitar

    Paul McCartney: bass

    Jim Capaldi: drums

    Elton John: piano

Carly Simon, Janis Joplin, Eric Burdon: backup singers

Now that lot would make an interesting noise. :)

  3. He certainly is capable of expressing the full range of emotions from A to B.....but it's that plangent whine to his voice that gets me......with the occasional breathy interlude until he winds himself up to full tosspot mode again.

    It's awful.

And, how Cher never got in the list? Well, I never!

  4. johnny come on you put it out there knowing it would peak curiosity, and I am one curious chick...fess up...I won't tell...I keep secrets...try me... ;)

I come from a family with a long history of maudlin sentimetality...frustrated poets, writers, painters...none of us with a whit of real talent...when we hear/see someone do something beautiful we burst into tears...it's just jealousy really. :)

  5. You should be able to listen to it here . Tell me if it works.
Thanks for trying...it didn't work, but thanks anyway.

I've got the Furs version...it's the Dresden Dolls version I'd like to hear again...one acoustic guitar, one voice...it's lovely.

    Makes me cry...oops, that's another thread. :)

  6. That's actually quite a good question.

We had a 'ball' once that had the title of...

'The Director's Ball' which was based on the suggestion that our 'then' director 'had the biggest balls in London'

...the idea was, of course, reflected in all the publicity and even the menu...'Director's Balls Soup' was part of the entree.

  7. I loved JB and both The Pretender and Running on Empty were played to death by me in the 70's...since then I discovered that one of my favourites by him, The Road, was a cover of a Danny O'Keefe song (check him out...Breezy Stories is a hidden classic) and several of his other 'greats' were also covers...but , overall, top talent!

Didn't he go through a dodgy 'bitch-slappin' thing with Darryl Hannah more recently? Might he not be the sensitive poet we all know and love.?

Still...good tunes, good player...who cares if he's Ike Turner on the sly? ;)

  8. The Ghost in You - Psychedelic Furs. :( Actually I prefer the Dresden Doll's version (thanks BF...it's brilliant!) but it seems to have been edited offa You Tube....if anyone has a link to it somewhere else I'd be most obliged. :)

  9. Sorry, I thought we had some fancy French film vibe going here....what with the fondue, the rings...the butter...the table...the stolen glances...jumper puppies...the passion errupting....ooops, I've come over all 'BF' now (read that idiomatically please...it's not what I meant in the literal sense). ;)
