  1. Alright, alright, stop this Antipodean Lovefest....I am deeply ashamed that I caused any offence.....for reasons that escape me I have become rather fond of BF and his scatalogical ranting and so I percieved OLD whatsits posting as a slur on both my, and BF's right to take threads off into uncharted territory....but I didn't really mean to be rude to our Ozzie pals....some of my favourite bands are from Oz, including Sherbert, Midnight Oil, Australian Crawl, Beer Goggles, Hunter's and Collectors, Split Enz and Mutton Birds (shame the last two are actually New Zealnd Bands...but Oz has appropriated them)...I could go on.

Sorry sorry sorry (about the Cricket :) )

    :):)

  2. I think one is able to 'develop a theme' rather than just compile lists of one hit wonders. There are lists all over the place already....surely the joy of Songfacts is to be able to explore the phenomenon further, how come they were one hitters? was it a sociological phenomenon or just 'cos they couldn't write anymore good tunes? etc. etc.....anyone can write a list.

    JMHO ;)

  3. B-F and JG I don't think much of your posts at all.

ooooh, get you! (pout and then turn, mince, mince, mince, flout)

Aussies tend to be the greatest exponents of the solitary arts...what with being all...solitary 'nall...Whilst I may have had my run ins with BF over the last few weeks I'd choose him over a BOF Fudpucker Kangamanga any day.....JMHO (and very sorry if I've offended anyone important..but hey, what's he on about?) ;)

  8. I'm with you on this BF...apart from having seen The Vapours several times (and they were jolly good live)and also once directing them to the correct venue when they were lost (a car pulled up next to me and a bloke leaned out and said 'we're the Vipers...where's the gig?...you'd have to know 'Cockney' (although they were from Guildford) to know that 'Vipers' meant Vapours...try saying it,I think they were 'getting down with the kids' a bit with their faux Sarf London accents) but, anyhooo...they were darned good...and any paen to the joys of the 5 knuckle shuffle that gets into the charts is ok by me....let's face it, we've all done it, so why not sing abart it... :)

  9. Ta Daaaa...!

David Dundas Lyrics - Jeans On Lyrics

When I wake up in the mornin' light

I pull on my jeans and I feel all right

I pull my blue jeans on, I pull my old blue jeans on (ch-ch)

I pull my blue jeans on, I pull my old blue jeans on (ch-ch)

It's the weekend, and I know that you're free

So pull on your jeans and come on out with me

I need to have you near me, I need to feel you close to me (ch-ch)

I need to have you near me, I need to feel you close to me

You and me, we'll go motorbike ridin' in the sun and the wind and the rain

I got money in my pocket, got a tiger in my tank

And I'm king of the road again

I'll meet ya in the usual place

I don't need a thing, 'cept your pretty face

And I need to have you near me, I need to feel you close to me (ch-ch)

I need to have you near me, I need to feel you close to me (ch-ch)

I need to have you near me, I need to feel you close to me (ch-ch)

You and me, we'll go motorbike ridin' in the sun and the wind and the rain

I got money in my pocket, a tiger in my tank

And I'm king of the road again

When I wake up in the mornin' light

I pull on my jeans and I feel all right

I pull my blue jeans on, I pull my old blue jeans on (ch-ch)

I pull my blue jeans on, I pull my old blue jeans on (ch-ch)

I pull my blue jeans on, I pull my old blue jeans on (ch-ch)

  10. Might it not then be an 'egg and chicken' situation wherein the aforesaid Rodney is not, indeed, the inspiration for the television character Rodney, rather than the vice versa proposition I had proposed?

Someone somewhere must have done a thesis on the 'Influences of Strangler's Lyrics on the Development of 80's Televisual Comedy Scriptwriting'....or something. 'Cmon someone...Google it. :):)

  11. [quote"Rodney" symbolises the kind of nouveau-riche chancers with no "breeding" (You know the type...) who trail around marriageable aristocratic chicks, to try and buy into "class" / nobility. Why "Rodney"? Because, nobody with any class / breeding whatsoever would call their son "Rodney", hence Rodney represents the kind of plebby commoner, of whom her parents would strongly disapprove.

  12. I am a bit confused by the gendre now though, as to me 'metal' means Anthrax, Metallica and the like, and most of the older bands no longer fit the description.

I'm a bit confused too....Saxon, Iron Maiden and their ilk were once NWOBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal) according to 'Sounds' magazine...which implies an 'old wave' somewhere down the line which was probably sprung from Purple, Zep and the like but there's the doomy gloomy aspect from Sabbath and even more so from long forgotton heroes such as Atomic Rooster (heavy or what).

Personally I think Metallica...and especially Megadeath are more the offspring of the bunch of spandex clad, poodle haired pansies (with the odd very dodgy moustache) that knocked out bad Slade covers in the late 80's. Metallica are a bunch of po-faced poseurs. And if anyone says Kiss are Heavy Metal I'll know I've lost the plot...they're The Sweet meets the Rocky Horror Show...and that ain't metal...it's more like marshmallow (and I like the Sweet) :coolio:

  13. I'd love it if you could explain what you found attractive / talented about Miss WOW.

(Please don't just say "her tits")

...err, well she did have huge ttttttt...talent, but I guess it was mostly the strategically placed Elastoplast that I remember with great fondles..errr, fondness. OK, I was young, I was impressionable... and I wasn't getting it much.

  14. Well, I remember the 'Home Taping is Killing Music' campaigns of some years ago and the same old bunch of millionaire tossers supported that campaign, Elton John, Pat Benatar etc.....mind you, Metallica's 'give us more money' campaign was just another excuse to hate them....the real reason is that they are pompous, overblown windbags.

Anyway...we digress. I'd rather have a penis reduction than hear.....50 cent doing Brown Sugar :):)
