  1. I can sympathise.

When I was 15 I was in a pub (in those days people didn't care that much about licencing laws in the countryside where I lived, and beer was 50p a pint you know...) and a friend who kept horses decided it would be funny to dissolve Epsom Salts in my beer.

For those of you who don't know, Epsom salts are used to unblock equine constipation. They worked a treat on me too!

I sh*t my pants quicker than someone being offered the Baghdad franchise of McDonalds! I ran home (all of one mile) and left a trail of rusty water the whole way. By the time I arrived at home the total contents of my stomach had gone, and my trousers were sodden. How my parents laughed!

To this day I cannot sit in a bath with the smell of salts in the room.

    Happy days!

    Regards

  3. Top list Beatleant,

It echo's many of my choices.

    I would just add:

Tokyo Tapes by the Scorpions - 'fly to ze rainbow!'

Rock and Roll Animal by Lou Reed - he did this when the rest of the world was putting flowers in its hair!

    Regards

  4. Is the 'it' thing the way Christians rationalise the existance of God? Its a bit like going around in mathmatical circles until the volume of ink has a tangible prescence by itself surely.

    Regards

  5. I hate 'hip-hop' with a passion, but 'The Streets' is different. A normal bloke talking about things that actually happen to real people, and with a sense of homour. Not your usual wannabe bad boy with a tale about somebody elses life and more chips than McDonalds!

'Respect to the man in the ice-cream van'

    Regards

  6. The Smiths yes. If you are talking about that type of music you must also consider Joy Division, Magazine, The Stone Roses and many, many more.

What is the preocupation with 'London Calling'? A great Album for sure, but only one of many from The Clash worth listening to - 'The Clash' anyone?

    Regards

  7. Other 'old' rock music worth listening to, in my opinion:

    Any early Deep Purple

Early Lou Reed (especially 'Rock & Roll')

    All Ozzy's Sabbath

    The Sensational Alex Harvey Band

All Rush up to and including Exit Stage Left

    All Tom Waites

    All Tim Buckley

    The Cult

    The Kinks

    The Faces

    The Small Faces

    Early Genesis

    Ry Cooder

Scorpions - up to and including 'Tokyo Tapes'

The list is endless as anybody reading this post will know!

As with most album music however expect not to like it much for the first few listens, but persevere and it will come good.

p.s. - if wanting to speed things up a bit, try 'Inflamable Material' by Stiff little Fingers, or 'Another music in a different kitchen' by Buzzcocks.

    Regards
