After some research: The correct lyric seems to be ?Life isn?t everything?. At the time Elton John was recording the "A Single Man" album, in 1978, a messenger boy for Rocket Records (Elton's company) called Guy Burchett was struck by a car and killed while riding his bicycle. "Song for Guy" was written for him.
