My favorite part of the apology letter, is when he says "I hope you can accept my apologies for not providing you with the summer that you had your hearts set on." Even he, himself knows that the lineup wasn't that good.

A MESSAGE FROM PERRY
To all my Fellow Artisans, Activists, and Feverish Supporters,
It is with heart gripped despair that I inform you of Lollapalooza's disbandment for the summer of 2004. To say that you terribly miss something that never was born is somewhat odd, yet in this case, it is quite accurate.
I hope you can accept my apologies for not providing you with the summer that you had your hearts set on. I tried very hard to keep us on course; heading straight into the most ferocious musical storm in history. We were not able to continue; we were taking on huge financial losses.
And still, I want you to know that I fought for our lives into the final hour.
Please know that I value your talents and look forward to meeting you again - a little later on to re-discover ourselves as friends. If it makes you feel any better, I am in the same boat as most of you; "Only loaded with talent." But with talent like ours, they can't hold us down for long.
Upon reflection, I conclude there is a story here. It is the story of a musical community under the influence. No, silly, it's not drugs. This is an influence far more damaging and threatening, as in: "They are threatening to sue us for damages." My prayer is that we live to fight another day and walk together at the victory parade.
We hoped for comfort but we've never felt too safe. And in these hard times, we've had to navigate through. Unexhausted; is our virtue,
Peretz
PS. I am still looking for a shining moment or two for us this summer. I hope you will receive me when I call.
This was their Lineup
Morrissey
Sonic Youth
PJ Harvey
Modest Mouse
Le Tigre
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
The Von Bondies
The String Cheese Incident
The Flaming Lips
Pixies
Basement Jaxx
Wilco
Michael Franti & Spearhead
Gomez
The Polyphonic Spree
TV on the Radio
+various other small acts
I've heard of 8 of these bands, but they're all washed up Alternative Rock groups, it doesn't amaze me this tour was canceled.

I clicked on that Maddox link, LOL I like the story & comic on the Garfield Sucks page
-
Wasn't Jack in Mars Attacks!?
Yeah he was for a brief bit as Billy Glenn Norris
-
Yes, he's my all time favorite Movie Maker
Along with Full Metal Jacket & Clockwork Orange, I also like Dr Strangelove, The Shining, & Lolita.
-
The only 80's music videos I have taped are from when MTV ran the Top 500 Music Videos of All Time Countdown, I taped the entire segment & they played the videos in whole without interuption.
-
Not exactly, but I listen to that song just about every day, it sounds like an acid trip IMO. Something to do with being in a bunker & waiting for worms to come crawling out. It works well in the obscure concept of the Wall though.
-
They're mostly showing short clips of the song in the movie & interupting with celebrity commentary, including such obvious plugins as Clay Aikens & Hillary Duff who have no business commenting on anything musical.
-
LOL, most have been pre-1960, Raindrops keep falling on my head is on right now at #23, I'm sure there's a complete list online somewhere.
-
It's still playing here, I was glad to see "Born to be Wild" at #29.

Yeah, I agree completely they?re underrated.
Nirvana is often credited with for being the original in Seattle, but AiC had already hit the spotlight with Man in the Box a year before Nevermind was released. Not to mention Jerry Cantrell?s hefty guitar handiwork on their songs, making him IMO the best guitarist during the whole Grunge Movement. They?ve received a fair share in rankings from compiled lists of the best though, but they aren?t credited with as much as they deserve.

I'm sure I'm not thinking about Waters since he wasn't there for "Momentary Lapse of Reason". Let me know if I'm wrong about this.
Gilmour pretty much did Momentary Lapse of Reason all on his own effort, & he did an amazing job at that.
-
I liked his take in the movie "Four Rooms" it was odd & took a few times of watching it, in order to understand the plot a little better.
-
My personal favorite is The Chamber
The Firm is my favorite film adapted from his book though
-
I liked Saving Silverman & School of Rock
also their cameo in Bio-Dome
I can't wait for Pick of the Destiny to come out.
-
I used to watch this on MTV around 10 years ago, I'm still surprised they're adapting it into a movie though, to me it's better off left animated, that was the main identity of the whole premise.
-
guns n' roses what did they do? sweet child of mine
is their only decent song and thats because of the intro.
They had a hell of a lot of songs that were good.
Their performance on November Rain is tops of any song IMO over the past 25 years.
Slash's sudden solo outbreak in any named tune by them, &
their visual aspect interpretation beyond song in Coma,
where you can feel the state of being out of this world while lying in a hospital bed
during Axl?s lyrical comprehension as well as the guitar lead were a new standard in Rock Music.

I like Geoff Tate's high octave vocals; he can sing rock like no other, even though others complain that he ?whines? too much. His early day screaming on ?Queen of the Reich? to the more powerful technique he illustrates during the chorus on "Suite Sister Mary" is phenomenal. Also, the stunning soft-spoken ?Silent Lucidity? really puts an emphasis of prominence on their part. For a band that's been putting out albums for the past 21 years, he has kept his voice in line even to this day.

A Hard Day's Night (The Beatles)
Singles
The Crow
also ... Interview with the Vampire
-
I like Jerry Cantrell's performance on Alice In Chain's Unplugged set, they did a pretty decent job at giving a new depth to their music, especially on songs like Got Me Wrong & Would?
-
I've heard their "Everything Must Go" album, it's not bad, a few songs on there I like, one called Kevin ____ .... I forget exactly.
-
Blame Canada from South Park's Movie was nominated
I hope this is a decent list, I'm sure 80% of it will be pre-1950
-
I saw "Learning to Fly" on MTV when they had the Top 500 videos of all time countdown, it was #150-something.
It's mostly of a young guy in the desert plains near some mountains. He's harvesting & looking up into the sky, eventually he flys in the video.
Pink Floyd really doesn't have many music videos, except for The Wall. They made a few for The Division Bell but those were only shown on VH1 ten years ago.
:guitar:

I guess their motto is: If a song's already been number one, why don't we copy it?
LOL I totally agree, there's a lot of previous work that their music is a little to similiar to & they try too hard to be like those bands that they can't touch.
Greatest single song of all time..

I agree, it's like Axl wasn't even trying on that album, but I liked their rendition of "Since I Don't Have You"
