  1. The ones who reply with just "LOL" (or similar), or copy/quote a previous post and reply with just a smilie or two (no text)

Whenever I log onto here, I like to post as much as possible. I try to leave a significant comment, and make it a sentence or a paragraph long. Short responses are a common trend on forums, but not really that big of a deal either. The rankings don't matter to me & I could care less what any body else's is, I'm sure others feel the same way.

  2. I don't know if these count, from the original subject specified, but some of my favorite beats are...

(I don't necessarily like all of these songs)

    White Stripes - Various songs

    Tool - 46&2

Pink Floyd - Run Like Hell

Led Zeppelin - Trampled Under Foot

    Doors - Touch Me

Tom Petty - Built to Last (Liquid Drums)

Queen - Another One Bites the Dust (Bass)

Queen / David Bowie - Under Pressure

Genesis - Land of Confusion (mostly the opener & middle part)

A bunch of techno & trance (widely DJ mixes) that I also like, I usually listen to it while driving around.

  3. I was browsing through the forum, when I found this...

Seeing those kittnes sing "immigrant song" was neat.

I was watching that, it's pretty cool how they have their heads bobbing to Page's guitar. Even though there isn't much scenario to the clip, with it mostly being the two kittens on the ship. My favorite part is where the kitten quotes "Our only goal will be the western shore."

Yeah I know, I bumped an old thread :o

  4. I don't really remember ever posting this thread LOL ::

I missed that show, but heard about it.

I would've of doubted that it was about drugs, seeing as how a good number of songs were related to that, when they weren't about sex or R&R excess.

Thanks for bringing it to my attention though, I guess I have a forgetful memory.

  5. Stanley Kubrick is the best. I wouldn't say A Clockwork Orange is a drug movie but I wouldn't say it is not a drug movie either. Saw it both ways. Just makes it alot funnier when he says "The old in and out love"

There's the part where Alex is subjected to an injection & forced to watch video clips while he is hallucinating. And as Tenacious previously posted, there's the bit where they mixed milk & drugs into solids & made them available to anybody.

  6. Hey Tara :)

I checked out those songs on that site, & they do indeed sound reminiscent of Incubus, with a slightly more dynamic sound. That?s interesting how they wrote a song in your honor, I may have to check out their album sometime soon.

  7. Led Zeppelin IV, from what's listed. It's not my favorite album by them, nor do I feel it's their greatest. Darkside of the Moon is another good choice, but the overall greatness of Pink Floyd was expressed throughout all of their set, which makes it hard to select a certain album to represent them. The greatest album of all time, IMO was Revolver, which wasn't listed.

  8. Pink Floyd - In the Flesh pt 2 / Waiting for the Worms / The Trial (I had CrAzY experiences, where this section of the Wall gave me tickles.

A lot of Weird Al Yankovich songs are funny, especially Smells Like Nirvana, Amish Paradise, Which Backstreet Boy is Gay, & Couch Potato.

Geri Halwell - Look at Me (uh how 'bout no, your not as hot as you think)

    --edit---

Crazy Don just reminded me of another one I forgot, Ray Stevens. My favorites are The Pirate Song, Mississippi Squirel Revival, & Osama Yo' Momma

  9. Thanks, but in truth The Sweet were not that special. They were very big here in the early 70s, and were a 'glam rock' band..you know..huge silver stack heel boots, silver spandex cat-suits and lots of make-up. They had a string of top ten UK hits, but they are more remembered for how they looked than how they sounded!

I have Desolation Boulevard, I still listen to it to this day, they're a good band, a blend of Pop & Rock, but not annoying like some others in that category. I never really bothered with the image of rock stars, if they have the right sound, then it's worth the listen. My favorite tracks are Set Me Free, AC/DC/, & Fox on the Run.

  10. I agree with most of what was listed

Mine would be in alphabetical order (most of them, that I think are the best / most significant to R&R, not necessarily my 10 favorites. I know I'm missing a few)

    The Beatles

    Black Sabbath

    The Doors

    The Eagles

    Jimi Hendrix

    Led Zeppelin

    Lynyrd Skynyrd

    Pink Floyd

    Rolling Stones

    The Who

  11. Led Zeppelin never hit #1 on the Hot 100, very few rock bands have, & most were ballads during the 80's.

This was their 10 biggest charting songs on the Pop Singles Charts

    Whole Lotta Love | No. 4 | 1970

    Black Dog | No. 15 | 1972

    Immigrant Song | No. 16 | 1971

    D'yer Mak'er | No. 20 | 1973

    Fool In The Rain | No. 21 | 1980

    Trampled Under Foot | No. 38 | 1975

    Rock And Roll | No. 47 | 1972

Over The Hills And Far Away | No. 51 | 1973

    Living Loving Maid (She's Just A Woman) | No. 65 | 1970

    Good Times Bad Times | No. 80 | 1969

  12. I would've voted Trainspotting, but it wasn't on that list.

I went with The Wall by Pink Floyd, Geldof's performance trips me out even when I'm sober. Another classic I found to be drug-related was Clockwork Orange, most say different, but see for yourself LOL

  13. In Heaven, can you give me an idea on what you categorize as Mainstream? (Do you determine it in Radio Airplay, Record Sales, Concert Venues, etc) Tom Petty, yes I agree is mainstream, but still very significant, even as a focal point for his obvious influence Bob Dylan. Modern day folk singers, such as Petty, Costello, and even current singers like Dave Matthews & John Mayer aren't as widespread as they used to be. Anymore it seems that if the mainstream is comprised of such artists, is hard obtained & rare.
