  1. Toss up, but I think "Zep II" just barely edges out "Physical Graffiti". And there is no WORST Zep album.

For those who wish to talk of bad albums, I suggest starting a Dave Matthews or Genesis thread, but I most likely won't visit that one. The rap thing's already been done to death.

  2. For technical ability alone, I think these guys would also make a great Supergroup:

    Vocals - Roger Daltrey

    Rhythm/Lead Guitar - Mick Taylor

    Rhythm/Lead Guitar - Peter Frampton

    Bass - Michael Anthony

    Piano - Billy Joel

    Drums - Neil Peart

  3. Sammy, stop making me laugh out loud!

Are you talking from personal experience, or did you see it in a movie? Speaking from a woman's standpoint, OUCH!

Nah, I admit I'm not that adventurous (or maybe just never in the right place at the right time or in the right euphoric state), but I have seen it once or twice in the movies.....Shrek, I think it was.

  4. The Weight- The Band. At least I have never heard of any other hits by them.

Granted the Band didn't have a long string of Number Ones, but you must have heard "Up On Cripple Creek", "Stage Fright", or "Chest Fever". Eh?

Sorry, I was a page behind. I didn't see the other posts, so I am now editing this one.

  5. I'm surprised nobody mentioned Bob Dylan...oh sorry, I thought this was the sarcasm thread. But all of you have forgotten to mention Robin Zander. He can't quite hit the high notes like he used to, but he does make up for it with his incoherent drunken babbling. I absolutely love Cheap Trick.

  6. The greatest album ever made, from first song to last, is "Sticky Fingers" by the Stones. It's a fabulous mixture of hard rock, blues, R&B, with great guitar riffs and superb musicianship. The run of amazing Stones' albums from "Beggars Banquet" (1968) through "Some Girls" (1978) truly solidified their claim as the World's Greatest Rock 'N' Roll Band. I know of no other band that had such a long run of entirely great albums where nearly every song was a classic. In my book, this puts them #1 with no equal.

  7. As I've heard it, the inspiration for the song "Comfortably Numb" (not necessarily how it fits into 'The Wall') arose when Roger Waters had severe back pain and went to the doctor to receive shots for the pain. And if you listen closely to the lyrics, that's pretty much what they mean. But only the lyricist knows for sure. Great song, though. My third favorite by Floyd, behind "Wish You Were Here" and "Young Lust".

  8. Oh. Well he is pretty good. I have only heard a few Queen songs. I'm not a guy that really gets into bands that much. But I do like Queen. Still I wouldn't call him the best guitarist, although, he is probably on the top 20 list. I love the solo in Bohemian Rhapsody.

You should check out the tunes, "I Want It All" from the album "Miracle" (1989), and "Tie Your Mother Down" from the album "A Day at the Races" (1976). Brian May can really make an axe scream. He's definitely in the top 20.

  9. I don't know if it's a coincidence or if it was designed by Alice Cooper, but he and his band are scheduled to play in Clear Lake, Iowa, on Friday the 13th of August. I don't normally believe in superstitions as such, but this just may be the last show Cooper ever plays. Clear Lake, Iowa, was the town where Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper played just before their tragic plane crash. I hope I'm wrong, but I have a bad feeling about this one.
