  1. And of course there's "A Fifth of Beethoven" from the "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack, (based on Beethoven's 5th symphony). And then, extended from that is Thicke's "When I Get You Alone", which is based on "A Fifth Of Beethoven", which in turn is based on Beethoven's 5th. Also, Barry Manilow's "Could It Be Magic" starts with a snippet of Chopin's Prelude in C Minor. There you go. Two more for the list! Jude
  2. I've thought of another one - a bit more contemporary this time. Darren Hayes (ex-Savage Garden ... another Aussie artist, sorry!) and "I Can't Get Ever Enough Of You". It's on his "Spin" album (released through Columbia/Sony). Well I know that I have only ever held your hand But just one touch is more than enough to understand There's a master plan And although I know I don't believe in destiny Maybe it found me Now my world is filled with so many things But nothing compares to the touch of your skin There's a symphony And a melody that plays whenever you're around I think I've been found I can see the sun And I can feel the rain I can hear the wind call your name I can feel your love But there's one thing I can't do I can't ever get enough of you Now I know that in the past I've been much too keen But your eyes are the kindest that I've ever seen I guess there are some things you just know There's a voice inside telling me to hold on And never let you go There's a tune that plays It's a sacred sound It's a symphony I hear whenever you're around Now my world is filled With a whisper of love and a promise of tomorrow I can see the sun And I can feel the rain I can hear the wind call your name I can feel your love But there's one thing I can't do I can't ever get enough of you When we make love I lose track of time I can't count all the colors I see in your eyes And while your heart beats in mine, it's true I can't ever get enough of you Now my world is filled with so many things But nothing compares to the touch of your skin There's a symphony And a melody that plays whenever you're around I think I've been found I can see the sun And I can feel the rain I can hear the wind call your name I can feel your love But there's one thing I can't do I can't ever get enough of you (repeat chorus) Or, what about Savage Garden's "I Knew I Loved You" - here's the chorus... I knew I loved you before I met you I think I dreamed you into life I knew I loved you before I met you I have been waiting all my life Do either of those help? I've taken up enough room on here for now. Let me know if you'd like the rest of the lyrics for "I Knew I Loved You". Judy
  3. What about "I've Got A Crush On You" by Linda Ronstadt? It's on her "What's New" album (1983), which was recorded with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra. It was written by George & Ira Gershwin and has a real 1930s/40s feel to it. Admittedly, the lyrics here are to be sung by a female, but I HAVE heard a recorded version by a male - the Australian music theatre artist, Anthony Warlow. The male version of the lyrics are shown in red and in brackets. (Anthony Warlow's versions are on his "Back In The Swing" and "The Best Of Act One" albums.) How glad the many millions Of Toms and Dicks and Williams ( of Annabelles and Lillians ) Would be To capture me But you had such persistence You wore down my resistance I fell And it was swell You're my big and brave and handsome Romeo (I'm your big and brave and handsome Romeo ) How I won you I will never never know It's not that you're attractive (It's not that I'm attractive) But oh my heart grew active When you came into view I've got a crush on you, sweetie pie All the day and nighttime, hear me sigh I never had the least notion That I could fall with so much emotion Could you coo Could you care For a cunning cottage we could share The world will pardon my mush Cause I've got a crush, my baby, on you Could you coo Could you care For a cunning cottage we could share The world will pardon my mush Cause I have got a crush, My baby, on you I guess it depends on whether you want something on the mushy side, or with a bit more of a beat. This one definitely falls into the slow-and-gentle category! Judy
