  1. Roxanne - The Police. That nasal screetch is like fingernails on a blackboard. Just Like Starting Over - John Lennon. One of my all time least favourite songs made #1 in one of our top 10 polls. In the interest of self-preservation, I will not put it forward here.
  2. Definitely not, Farin! Although I dislike most of the songs put forward, there are two or three which I quite like.
  3. All My Loving In My Life Let It Be Ticket To Ride I Saw Her Standing There A Hard Day's Night The Ballad Of John & Yoko She Loves You Penny Lane Help
  4. You are the one who deserves the lion's share of the credit, Darryl!! Thanks again for all your hard work and enthusiasm. We couldn't do it without you!
  5. As usual, a great list of songs from which to choose. 1. Who'll Stop The Rain - My favourite tune by one of my favourite bands. 2. Long Cool Woman (In A Black Dress) - The Hollies. Great vocals and an infectious, hard- driving beat. 3. Needles & Pins - The Searchers. One of my favourite songs of the 60's. 4. Jackie Blue - Ozark Mountain Daredevils 5. Bad Case Of Loving You (Doctor, Doctor) - Robert Palmer. 6. You're No Good - Linda Ronstadt. IMO, a very underrated performer. She churned out hit after hit in the mid to late 1970's and what a set of pipes!! 7. Love Is Blue - Paul Mauriat & His Orchestra. A beautiful instrumental. 8. Ain't Nothing Like The Real Thing - Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell. SMOOOOOTH!! 9. Dancing In The Dark - Bruce Springsteen 10. If You Leave Me Now - Chicago During the last few rounds, I've had fun trying to anticipate what songs various Songfactors will pick from the list of nominations. To date, I've enjoyed a better than 50 percent success rate with 3 Songfactors and failed miserably with 5 others. As a result, I'm starting to get a good idea whose musical tastes are similar to my own and whose are quite different. It's not at all scientific, but it sure is fun!
  6. This was a difficult selection this time, but for a different reason. This was the first time that I had trouble coming up with 10 picks. This was also the first time, I think, that I picked my nominations #1 and #2. 1. Killing Me Softly With His Song - Roberta Flack 2. Do It Again - Steely Dan 3. Lyin' Eyes - The Eagles 4. You're So Vain - Carly Simon 5. Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves - Cher 6. Easy To Be Hard - Three Dog Night 7. Tracks Of My Tears - Smokey Robinson & The Miracles 8. Secret Agent Man - Johnny Rivers 9. Dream On - Aerosmith 10.I Feel The Earth Move - Carole King

  9. This was, for me, by far the most difficult selection. I could easily have picked 20 songs from this fabulous list!! After careful consideration, however, I have whittled it down to these 10 songs: 1. All My Loving - My favourite Beatles tune. 2. California Dreamin' - The Mamas & The Papas. IMO, the greatest folk/rock song of all time. 3. Ohio - Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. One of the best protest songs of the rock era. 4. Abraham, Martin & John - Dion 5. La Grange - ZZ Top 6. S.O.S. - I'm not a big ABBA fan, but I love this song. 7. Here Comes My Baby - The Tremeloes. 8. Garden Party - Ricky Nelson 9. 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy) - Simon & Garfunkel 10. Money For Nothing - Dire Straits I would have included I Say A Little Prayer in my top 10 if it had been Dionne Warwick's version.
  10. Great choice Radhi!! All My Loving is also my favourite Beatles song. It was the first rock and roll song I can remember hearing. My much older cousin was a huge fan of the Beatles and C.C.R. and whenever we would visit his parents' house, I remember hearing All My Loving or Lookin' Out My Back Door playing on his portable record player. I have loved both these songs ever since. You definitely have my vote for All My Loving.
  11. 1. Ohio - Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young 2. Here Comes My Baby - The Tremeloes
  12. If You Could Read My Mind - Gordon Lightfoot Written in 1969, the song has been recorded more than 100 times, first by Lightfoot himself for his LP Sit Down Young Stranger. The song was used in the Canadian feature film Paperback Hero 1n 1975. Other recordings include those by Carroll Baker, Glen Campbell, The Bells, Johnny Mathis, Liza Minelli, Barbara Streisand and Andy Williams. Instrumental arrangements have been recorded by Herb Alpert, John Arpin, James Last, The Boss Brass and others.
